Jason Denayer

hmm, if Otamendi should come in, will we see Denayer go to the championship for a season and MDM drop to 4th choice centre half?
probably be the most ridiculous thing the club has done in years if that happens. Nevertheless I dont see us signing another centre back.

If Otemendi signs that would mean either kompany or mangala spending a lot of time on the bench, and I just dont that happening. And denayer is way to good for the championship, he is a full international now.

With Otamendi looking like signing any day now looks like Denayer is either going to be our fourth choice shifting MDM into a midfield role or has just got fucked over by us by signing a new contract. I am still hoping we give him game time this season, but the Otamendi signing has really screwed that up.

Nothing like being over dramatic is there?

Not really, given Denayer's agent came out with this to say:

De Preter said: "He was not in the selection against Chelsea but that was no surprise to us," said the agent.

"But if City gets a defender, that's it. They had promised us that no more defenders of that calibre would come. That does worry me." "For now, we do not panic. "Two weeks ago City wanted him absolutely not let go. That would still say they believe in him. But this should not take too long.

"If he is to sit on the bench or in the stands, he leaves. That’s an agreement we have with the club. He has to play, also with a view to the national team. But I repeat, that is not yet on the agenda. Jason also remains calm."

It makes total sense for Denayer to be a little worried, given he's been knocked one place down in the pecking order, and he already wasn't getting on the bench. Personally I think another loan is best for him, considering his age, and that City are getting Otamendi, but you've got to look at it from Denayer's point of view as well. He seems to believe that he's good enough for City, but City aren't looking like they're going to be giving him too many chances this season.

Obviously Demichelis is 34, but the others are 29, 27, and 24, not ages that mean they're up for retirement in the next year or two. I was pretty hopeful that a CB lineup of Kompany, Mangala, Demichelis, and Denayer would mean he'd get plenty of games, but with Otamendi that's looking less likely.

Denayer a good player but not sure he will ever be good enough for Citys first team.Just my opinion on what I have seen, dont think he stands up well when tested.A loan maybe to a good standard league and hope he proves me right but hes just a step up from Rekik and Boyata for me....cant win the ball in the air

I'll be honest with you mate, and this from someone who will be at the EDS tomorrow, and the under 18s on Saturday, and went part time to have time to watch the youth teams play, I really couldn't give a monkeys about either Jason or his agent's point of view.
I care that we win the league, do well in the champs league and play great football. If we do that with the likes of Jason, then great, but we can't sit still waiting to develop him at the expense of being the best.
An unlikely opportunity arose and we followed it up. Jason will have to bide his time and break into the team.

He was on the bench against WBA and we've only played 1 other match. His agent needs to stop talking to the media.

I have to disagree with that bud, he is fantastically talented given his age. Unless Demichellis is going instead he needs a good loan where he can play.

I'm warming to the Everton loan suggestion.....first team football, alongside decent players, under an intelligent, tactically astute manager.
As a bonus.....Everton then fleece Chelsea for Stones while we have laid down a sweetner/gained an advantage in relation to any possible future Barkley deal.

Denayer would either return much improved and ready to challenge or would(very unlikely) get found out in a top league.
