Jason Denayer

I for one am gutted that denayer won't get a decent run of games with city now that we've signed Otamendi.. We have got just over a week to sort out a good loan option for Denayer.. I seriously doubt if Everton will take him on loan if they sell Stones..they would look to buy someone with a long term view in mind.. This means either a loan stint abroad similar to last year or time to say goodbye to denayer :(

Could well be a loan move abroad, but it won't be anything like similar to last year I'd suspect. We'll want him tested against far higher calibre opposition than Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Motherwell and Hamilton Academicals this time around! I suspect a move to Spain could well be in the offing. Denayer is a better player than Karim Rekik and he got regular football for the best side in Holland last season so we can surely find Denayer a good quality side, in a high quality league.

Needs to be loaned asap. I have a feeling he may be a little pissed off as I'm sure first team opportunities was one of the reasons he signed his contract extension. Hopefully a loan to a decent team where he is a guaranteed starter will help avoid any fallout.

He's just turned 20, and he's signed a 5 year contract, there's no doubt in my mind that he'll get first team opportunities, however to expect a huge number of them at such an early age, and with so little first team experience, would be naïve. Even without Otamendi signing he'd have likely had less than 20 games this season, if we loan him out to someone who will start him regularly he could get 40 appearances this season. That would be of greater long term benefit to him, and City, than being a bench warmer/occasional starter here.

I don't disagree I just feel he wouldn't have signed his new deal had he known we were bringing in Otamendi. Even if he has a successful loan this year Kompany still has a few good years left in him, Mangala is 24 and Otamendi is 27 so he will be waiting a while to break into the team if he is willing to wait that is.

I just hope we didn't make any promises to him that no defenders of this calibre are coming. His agent seems to suggest otherwise though...

We do whats right for the club not any one individual. If Jason is of the character I believe him to be.....he will see this as a positive and an opportunity to further improve himself. On a five year deal...... the ball is very firmly in his court.

Agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment and suggested similarly yesterday, only to have a few posters bemoan our youth policy and defend the player's agent.

The thought process of some is bizarre......as a raw 20 yr old with the world literally at his feet.....how can he not be in wonderland knowing he is fighting for a place alongside the very best players on the planet? He has a five year deal at the most ambitious club in the world - This is the stuff of dreams for the kid!
