Ronny Deila is the connecton already I think. he already had City connections before Celtic & tries to play football the right way. I think City trust him & so long as he's there, they may get other players from City, both as loans & as potential signings.

I would have Barker on loan there next season, Angelino too.

Good point, does anyone know if our link with Stromsgødset will continue with Deila?

Watched a fair bit of the Ross County vs Celtic match on Saturday. If that's representative of the games Denayor is playing in he may as well be at home playing for the EDS. Why we would want to loan even more players to them I don't know. We could have loaned them Kit Symons and Ricky Holden and they would have looked good

Quite a lot of connections between us and Celtic, according to a message board post here: <a class="postlink" href="http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/topic/9111616/502/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/topic/9111616/502/</a>

I'll cut and paste the relevant one:

Coincidence, or conflict of interests? Whatever way you look at it - we seem to be doing a good job at helping out the Man City 'development squad'. Certainly not many Man City 'first-team' operations mentioned here. Is everyone on-board with Celtic being run this way?

Peter Lawwell - Celtic Chief Executive and de facto Director of Football.

Mark Lawwell - son of Peter Lawwell, and Man City Scouting and Recruitment Analyst.

Ronny Delia - former Strømsgodset manager and current Celtic manager. Originally lined-up for assistant-manager position following announced departure of Johan Mjallby. Regular visitor to Man City and their training facilities.

John Kennedy - Celtic first-team coach. Worked at Man City while completing coaching badges.

Strømsgodset - former Norwegian club of Ronny Delia, and in official 'collaboration agreement' with Man City (i.e. feeder club). Have loaned Man City players such as Abdisalam Ibrahim and Mohammed Abu in the past.

Nir Biton - Celtic player who narrowly missed out on joining Man City due to work permit issues, following a successful trial.

Stefan Johansen - former Strømsgodset player who was strongly linked with a move to Man City, shortly before completing his move to Celtic in January 2014.

Jason Denayer - Man City player, currently on-loan at Celtic

John Guidetti - Man City player, currently on-loan at Celtic

Ross County are the worst team in that league, though. Some of the others - most notably Aberdeen and Dundee United - are a lot better. He'll also get experience of European competition at Celtic. The other thing about Celtic is that it's a huge club in a small league, so they attract big gates and, within Scotland, extensive media scrutiny. So playing there is not just about the standard on the pitch but getting to grips with everything that goes with playing for a big club. That would stand him in good stead if he came back to City.

Is that from an agenda thread?

:)

Edit: for anyone interested it seems to start from around page 497 on -

I look at it purely from an MCFC perspective, though, and think for the reasons I previously stated that it's a good place for us to send loan players.
However, I can see why their fans might think it's worth raising questions about it, to be honest.

My favourite comment so far is from page 501 on that thread:

Gonga 9 Oct 2014, 04:25 PM

So are we part of the Man City, New York City, Melbourne City Family or are we just the black sheep that nobody acknowledges but occasionally gets the odd hand out to keep us quiet from telling the neighbours that they are all Swingers and snort coke off each others wives boobies.

Fair enough, and I honestly don't follow their league and it's the only time I've seen him play. But in footballing terms it looked far too easy a standard for him to learn anything. Especially by playing centre half for the best team in the division

I do get what you mean, because it's a long way behind the top leagues. I think ideally you'd send someone to that league for a first taste of senior football and then have them loaned somewhere else with a higher standard.
