Jason Denayer

No piss taking. If, as part of your argument you’d said 5 + 5 = 12 it would detract from your point of view. Simple maths. Simple grammar.
My point is whether Denayer would have gotten the minutes at the time he was at the club. Simple answer would have been no.

I learned a long time ago not to judge unless you were there as an eyewitness, or have walked a mile in a players' boots so fully understand why he did what he did. There's so many scenarios to Denayer's 'booting' someone in the head, it's impossible to make a proper informed comment.

Did professional athlete Denayer pick on a 7 stone weakling just acting the hard-man bully?

Was the fella on the floor already sparked out & Denayer booted him merely to look like a hard man?

Was the "booted" armed?

Did the "booted" have a mob with him?

Who started the scrap? Denayer or the booted?

Was the boot in the head proportional to the argument?

Is there a physical difference in trauma between a punch to the head, a headbutt, an elbow to the head, a standing kick or a kick whilst on the floor?

Was Denayer in fear of his own life, & if so was the boot in the head needed for him to make a getaway?

Was Denayer standing when the boot was flung, or on the floor?

There's two reasons I ask connected to two scenarios I know of. It was reported in a newspaper that there was an altercation between several males after a night out. One assailant was witnessed stamping on a man's head. HOWEVER CCTV footage showed the man who was stamped out was slashing after the stampee with a broken bottle, slipped & fell & the assumed assailant stamped on him twice before running off & it was only the final stamping action that was seen by witnesses & reported.

A fella I used to work with years ago was jailed for murder. The fella hadn't got as much as a parking ticket in his life, but got into an altercation with a neighbour over parking.

The neighbour came over to his home banging on his door & arguing with him. The neighbour pushed him, he pushed the neighbour back, the neighbour punched him in the face, so he punched the neighbour back.

Unfortunately the neighbour lost his footing, tripped, banged his head on the curb & later died in hospital. The murder charge was controversial & based mostly on the fact the accused practiced martial arts. Was that murder or manslaughter?

My point is unless any of us were there as an eyewitness & knew everything surrounding Denayer's situation leading up to the boot, how can an accurate conclusion be drawn without the full detail of the whole event, something that seems to be missing in this exchange? \0/
Your coworker should have hired a better attorney.

And I agree with you. Circumstances dictate a lot. I know not everyone on Blue Moon has been in a fight, whether it be in the street or combat. That said, 75% of the people here act/type like they are "the baddest motherfucker in the valley."

Once you've received the adrenaline dump and gotten the tunnel vision and auditory exclusion it is difficult to just "turn it off." Stopping is something that is trained. For all we know he was still in the fight or flight mindset (he chose fight, obviously) and wasn't able to switch off fast enough.

A LOT of people here throw stones through their glass walls or judge people when they don't know the circumstances. Some merely talk out their arse. I have zero fucking idea how to drive a train. If there was a train accident I wouldn't be calling the engineer a **** because I thought he did something wrong. Why? Because I have no clue.

And the police not jamming him up speaks volumes. Before you say it was because of his wealth and occupation, go ask that fucking horseshit footballer and low life (allegedly) Ben Mendy or Ched Evans how being a footballer kept them out of jail.

Agreed 100%. Looking at the video of the incident that was posted later, Denayer's friend was cold spark out & was still being bludgeoned, with the assailant showing no signs of stopping.

If Denayer didn't step in, his friend could have been seriously injured or even killed. Denayer's boot ended the scrap, albeit that action was in itself a dangerous way to do so.

The best way to look at Denayer's scenario is to consider what you'd do in Denayer's scenario? Personally I'd have booted him too & then dragged my mate to safety & made our escape.

Newspaper reports also state that Denayer's car was attacked & badly damaged, but he managed to drive off so it seems the incident continued well beyond the footage posted.

I'd imagine when the footage surfaced, the police gave the original assailant a choice... We'll charge Denayer with GBH & then charge you with GBH, assault & battery, affray & criminal damage. OR take your licks like a man, drop your complaint & count yourself lucky you're not on a more serious charge yourself. I assume the assailant took option two. \0/

As for my former coworker, I'm sure his murder charge would have been reduced to manslaughter, as I was told he was sentenced to 8 years & served 4, where murder is a life sentence.

When I was told all this by another former coworker, it made my blood run cold, because this life altering event could have happened to any of us. Courts will consider if you had the option to walk away, & I suppose being able to answer that would be the difference between a murder or manslaughter charge & the length of sentence.

Public perception of these scenarios changed when that bloke in Stockport was confronted by armed burglars in his home & defended himself by stabbing & killing one of them. There was a public & political outcry when the homeowner was arrested on suspicion of murder, but after an investigation, all charges were dropped.

This opened up an ethical legal debate, because the law is in place to ensure people don't believe they have the right to attack or kill someone just because the person has committed a crime against them. It's complicated...

Denayer was supposed to come in to the first team in 2015/16 with Mangala going on loan to Valencia as part of the Otamendi deal. The club made a big deal of him getting promoted and made several promises to him. Then Mangala refused at the last minute so the club organised Demichelis to River Plate.

Demichelis gave an interview where he said he and his family had suitcases packed when the deal fell through because Rivers manager Marcelo Gallardo changed his mind after Everton bought Funes-Mori late on.

At that point Denayer was told he had to go out on loan because we couldn’t offload Demichelis or Mangala and he went to Galatasaray.

So Denayer would have played for City if not for some bad luck. The club planned for it, he was told it was happening and when the club broke its promise to him he became very disillusioned with the club management and fairly so.

He went to Galatasaray and had an amazing season with great CL performances, helped them win the Turkish cup and got into the Belgium team, which lead Lyon to want to buy him, but we priced him out of a move all summer long while Lyon put together a few packages and at the last minute sent him to Moyes’ Sunderland with the only other choice being u23 football or second division Girona.

After that he didn’t want anything to do with Manchester City, wasn’t interested in playing for us at all, just wanted to get out. Went back to Gala the next year and got his move to Lyon.

It’s just not true at all that he wasn’t good enough for City, that’s certainly not what Pellegrini and City’s management thought. If they had their way he would have pretty much been our first choice pairing with Otamendi given Kompany’s injury problems but they failed in their attempts to make room in the squad for him and unfortunately it poisoned the well, so it never happened.

He’s had a great career afterwards, captaining one of the biggest and most decorated clubs in Europe, and we’ve gone on to win loads with a great set of defenders. So I’m not entirely sure why this has become a hot topic on the transfer thread because he ain’t coming here.
This is a great summary and highlights just how fragile a footballer's career can be.
