De Rossi and Martinez can play as dm,box-box or even attacking midfielder .

I am hoping that Garcia will let us forget these two WC mifielders.

De Rossi is probably the best holding midfielder in the world and has been top class for a number of years. Martinez is not as good but could be and is still young. Plus he can play at centre back and did it very well for Bilbao. Garcia is not a 21 year old with bags of potential, hes not going to improve much and was not good enough to be kept on at Real. Bad, bad move if hes the player Mancini goes for. Imo we should just stick with what we've got for now and go back for De Rossi in jan or the summer or identify someone that is actually good enough to improve us.

How do you know this so well? I have spent the whole day looking through Benfica matches and Garcia looks like just the player we need. 100% an upgrade from De Jong.

From what i've seen of Garcia over the years i just dont think hes that good. Hes a good player and thats why hes at Benfica but it is a massive leap from Portuguese title contenders to Premier League champions and i dont think hes up to it. We all have our opinions but i think hes one dimensional and not an upgrade on Nige, especially not for £25m. I'd have him over Rodwell but its pretty obvious Mancini wants a midfielder who can sit in a back 3 and also get forward which Garcia cant do.

a) Martinez is only year younger than Garcia.
b) Real Madrid aren't exactly famous for holding onto academy talents are they? Mata, Cambiasso, Eto'o spring to mind.

Martinez is a much better player than Garcia though. Yes you are right Real, and other clubs like Barca let players go and it comes back to haunt them but Garcia was given a chance at Real in the 1st team and was deemed not good enough. The other players that left, Mata, Eto'o, Fabregas, Pique etc where youngsters who where picked up. Garcia had plenty of games at Real and Osasuna to prove he was good enough for Real but he wasnt and isnt good enough for us.

I suggest you read this. You obviously know fuck all.

I wholly dislike rubbish being posted on here. There tends to be way too much at times that it just confuses everyone. I dont know how a move for Garcia will turn out for us. He might turn out to be a big-money flop (although id like to point out that all of Mancinis big-monied signings have been fantastic or at least very useful for us) From what I have seen, Javi plays the exact same role that Nige plays except that he is very good in the air and is stronger than Nige. This has been a major weakness for us at times when long balls are being played, we get dominated in the air like how Barcelona were yesterday because of our really short attackers. Yaya is our only focal point to win aerial battles and long balls. Garcia could perhaps do a much better job. From what Ive been Garcia also seems to have a better passing range that Nige although nowhere near as spectacular as De Rossi or Yaya. I completely agree that selling Nige for 3.5 million quid was a fucking ridiculous move and just horrible business. But Garcia is an upgrade, perhaps not worth that much money if we are indeed making the purchase for 25 million. But he will still improve our team nonetheless and help us to dominate more in the air and score goals from corners and free kicks. He also has had CL experience playing numerous times for Benfica in that competition, lets not forget.

I wish people would stop believing that DDR will for some reason choose to leave the club that he loves and has just signed a new contract with and would talk about targets without the "but only if we can't get DDR" bit constantly stuck on the end.

I will happily be proven wrong if we sign him. But we won't sign him.

To be honest I would rather trust the clubs judgement than yours if that's OK, if they think he is, that's fine with me, if he does sign lets see how he performs

Its a hell of a lot of money to pay for a player who has only one cap for Spain in a friendly and didn't make the Euro squad.

I think this would be a good signing, probably our best of the window unless something else really surprising happens tomorrow.

This. Would have rather see us sign Dembele who was a lot cheaper and proven in the Premier League.
