Its a hell of a lot of money to pay for a player who has only one cap for Spain in a friendly and didn't make the Euro squad.

Getting in the current Spanish team probably isn't the best criteria to use. I can't quote numbers, but I don't think David Silva was anything like a regular for Spain when we signed him was he?

I'd rather have him, but that is just coz he is one of my favorites. He is not an out and out DM though. He can play it just like Yaya can (and did for Barca), but in the Prem, Witsel will be way more valuable as a CM. Kid is simply a fantastic footballer.

But for the discipline, tactical awareness, and technical ability needed in the DM role in midfield, I'd say Garcia is the better fit.

Oh! That said, Iserioulsy doubt we will get either player. We have signed or would have by most accounts, signed 5 players.

I simply just don't see us signing a 6th. So no De Rossi, Garcia or Witsel in my opinion.

Yeah he was. But had lost his place for a short period during the Worldcup, coz he was sacrificed after they lost their 1st group match. But prior to then, he was a starter. Spain has so many fantastic players, that absolute studs who would easily be Premer league team of the season caliber player's simply wouldn't get a look in.

I mean, Mata, Carzola and Michu have all looked fantastic in the Prem, yet none plays regularly for Spain. Even Fabregas, who was the best midfielder when he played in England, was a benchwarmer in Spain while he was dominating the prem. So yeah, starts for Spain is truly a poor barometer.

We were strongly linked to Ander a couple of months ago and then it died a quiet death. Tolmie stated at one stage that we were in for him and I recall Tolmie saying that he was a 'top, top player'. So yes I agree with your view.

Ander Herrera for £25m would be one of the deals of the summer. Doubt it'll happen though.
