Javi Garcia

He obviously needed time to settle and adapt to his new role.

He probably wasn't used to receiving the ball as much as he has done while playing for us. Whoever plays in that defensive midfield position in our team will touch the ball more than any other player. You'll probably notice, now, his touch has improved, his distribution has improved and his confidence. Just a case of settling in to a new team.

If you didn't, watch next time we play. He turns with ball much quicker than he has probably been used to doing so in his career. He was exposed at Wigan but the lad's obviously grafted and reaped the rewards. Like I said, anyone in that position needs time to adapt to the way we play. Barry is the master of it.

Milner can do it but isn't as technically good as Barry. He's more of a grafter that will play anywhere, chase etc. Needed for those 'shit' games. Rodwell will be the eventual successor to Gaz Baz and it's the same with him. How often did he touch the ball at Everton? How much will he expected to get the ball, turn, pass it, keep it moving, not lump it etc. They'll both come good given time. Sinclair on the other hand...

good post.

Sinclair hasn't been given enough time on the pitch either.

Agreed and you are correct but he's not doing himself any favours. Against reading he received the ball on the half way line and had acres and acres of space to either run into or make a short pass to yaya and he dilly dallied and waited for not 1 but 2 players to close him down then attempted to run between them, losing the ball and giving an easy counter. Mancini does not forgive or forget mistakes like that in a hurry.

He wasn't the only one guilty of something like that, though.

Again, correct but many of those other players have given so much more to the team than a new signing who needs to prove himself, especially when it is supposedly his forte and what he was signed for.

I'm not writing him off but I and many other fans and I'd expect RM are hoping for much more. Does look lacking technically for me.

Am I the only one who didnt overly rate de Jong? Yes he was a hard tackler and determined and a laugh on the training pitch but Tiote offered Newc that last year and was as effective as de Jong. There are many players you could replace de jongs talents with, but I don't think that was what RM was after and certainly isn't what he got with Garcia and Rodwell. He wanted a player that could do all that and pass forward and pass directly. Like Xavi Alonso said - he was amazed that in England we rated tackling as a skill whereas in other countries that was just expected and technique was far more important. He should know being prob the best in the deep lying midfield position which we are crying out for.
