Javi Garcia

I think he will grow into the EPL, give it a season and he will be bang on the money. Not only as a defensive Mid but also in his link up play.

The lad just needs time, looks better every time I see him. And is always a danger in set pieces.

Think his performances have been very hit and miss this season. Having said that people have short memories - even yaya and silva took several months to settle.

Personally thought he played well v Newcastle and actually thought he played really well yesterday. Thought he was better than both Barry and toure in yesterday's game. Hopefully his good form will continue now.

I agree. He has looked very good in some games, and poor in others. Just needs time to settle as you say. Everything he did yesterday, he did well.

Team struggled yesterday, but we still played at a decent level given the missing fullbacks who are very important when a team defends so deep against us

He had no pre-season, got injured and has completely missed "getting up to speed" with this league.

He needs to be "brought along" and realize that he has to think quicker, move more intelligently to get himself open, and no-one is better for him to learn from than Gareth Barry.

I expect him to improve GREATLY with time and hope that next season is a significant improvement. Central midfield is the HARDEST position to bed down in this league. TBH, Yaya has looked out of sorts for much of this season but appears to be playing himself into it. Hopefully, Javi can do it, too.

My post from November 28th. I think it has been proven right already, with more to come from Javi.

he seems a threat from the air, but too lethargic and slow and doesnt help us with the tempo.

He isn't the only one who 'Slows Down' play Tevez, Nasri, Yaya to name but a few however much it pains me it's our mentality 'slow composed build up play'

It isn't Garcia's job to quicken the tempo, he is the ball winner who lays it off to Nasri, Silva and Yaya etc who move through the gears moving forward.

I thought Garcia had a solid game yesterday, kept the ball well and passed it around smoothly. Having Milner next to him when Yaya goes away would be our best option I feel with Barry rotating in. Milner will provide more energy and a better range of passing than Barry who is too similar to Garcia hence why our midfield looked lethargic to many yesterday.

I thought exactly the same as this .

I agree with most of the positive points made regarding Garcia and I will say I didn't think he'd make any more than a squad player. For his size he is a threat from set pieces yet he seems to be weak as a kitten when tackling and shoulder to shoulder vs someone much smaller than him!
