Jayden Braaf joins Borussia Dortmund on a permanent deal

Always been curious as to what actually went wrong with him after that Sam Lee comment in an Athletic Q&A session that time.

Usually we cut our losses and let players go on the cheap if we don't rate them/like their attitude but Braaf's contract has been ran down and that's that. All a bit odd.
He was sent on loan with a fee to buy and he got injured so that was that really.

All I can really say is what a waste of talent. Braaf has time on his side but does he have the inclination? Maybe the year off with his injury may focus his mind but it is doubtful.

In what way has he been a waste of talent? He went to Udinese at 18, struggled for a bit but then started finding some form and then unfortunately got a serious injury. He’s still 19 and will probably get a decent move to a club in Europe.

I wish all young players well. To make it to the top requires a rare combination of talent, dedication and serious work. In addition, it also takes some humility to recognise that he is in front of you and you will have to show, every single day, that you are worthy of taking his place. Until that day comes, you will have to be patient and still put it in, day in and day out. That is hard to do and it takes a very grounded person to do it, who has been shown that example by a proper mentor. With us, or not, good luck to him.

He went to Udinese because he apparently burned his bridges here.

It’s interesting that his instagram post doesnt mention where he’s going (unless I missed it). He‘ll probably fetch up at Dortmund then in a couple of years will be a £100m transfer to the Rags.

I‘ve never seen him play nor do I know anything about the kid’s attitude. Clearly the Club dont think he‘s right for us and we dont often get these things wrong. Good luck to him. I hope he has a successful career.

He's going Dortmund

He's going Dortmund

They'll be telling him he's the next Ronaldo, how great he is and pampering to his every need. He'll do pretty well and then decide he's bigger than them and want to move on.

Some will feel we've lost out, but our standards these days are about more than just football ability. You have to fit in. You have to not be a twat. He's no loss to us.

Because of his age will we get any sort of fee?
International training compensation although that's not a great deal when moving to a different association. He's been here 8 years which will help.

I can't see why there would not be a transfer fee or sell on option anyway, given he's still got 12 months here.
