Jeff Whitley

did jeff whitley score on his debut againest bradford when we were 2 up and went to 2-2 and he scored winner to make it 3-2?

I used to like Jeff Whitley when I was a kid. He was one of the few players who was with the club consistently from 96-2000s. When you see your club plummeting through the leagues and operating a revolving door policy with players, its good to see some stay with you, and from the youth system obviously helps you identify more with them. He wasn't the most talented, but better than Gerry Creany anyway.

The article is no surprise to anybody from around Heald Green. A mate of mine used to go out occasionally with him, describes him as a top bloke, but it was obvious he wasn't the most professional. Anyway, good luck to him, let's hope he's sorted once and for all.

Always thought Jeff was a decent lad, wasn't a big pal of mine but used to mix in the same circles and he was one who stood out as not getting overly big-headed, unlike some of the footballers that used to frequent the Wilmslow/Alderley Edge scene at the time.

Read the piece the other week about the charity work he is doing with his boss from the car pitch, good on them as they have both had their own personal struggles.

32 must be right. He played in the same local team (Rusholme Juniors) as my brother and he just turned 33 last week. I'm pretty sure they played for the same school team as well (Oakwood in Chorlton).

Seen Jeff at his worst and best....!
Jim, his brother has been a neighbour and good frind for over 14 years.
During that time, when they were both at City, Jeff was unfortunately living it large in the places to be seen, at at home and abroad, with his 'mates' of course, hangers on really who also wanted a good time and took him for a ride.
Jeff has been helping others to understand and recognise the dangers of having plenty of money and time on your hands for years, even playstation was a bad habit apparently. Ever wondered why players are tired???
Jim played it right most of the time but injury ended his career too early.
He now sings in a 'blues' band and still does his art occasionally.
Respect to Jeff for his honesty and being open about it.
Both good players who would have gone further other than for the obvious.
I remember Jim's debut in midfield, it was described as the best debut by any City player...........!!??
