I personally know an 8 year old who is signing a contract with City on the 18th April on the pitch at the West Brom Game.

I've seen him play since he was 4 and he looks very promising. Great attitude, great ball skills and an eye for goal.

He is even from Manchester.

What sort of contract? I was under the impression you couldn't sign one until you where 16, and then only has a trainee. Then a full time contract from 18.

Kids can sign academy forms-which i guess is a form of contract. Its around the age of 8 or 9 that they start playing games against other academy sides i think.

Yeah thats right. He can play for his school, but not the local team he has being playing for.
He will get free boots and kit etc.
Must be hundreds of kids across the country at each year group though.
How many make it? Even in the lower leagues

Some great info here guys. Thanks very much.

Lets hope a couple of these will be with us for a very long time.

Others to look out for

Emyr Hews- Central Midfield Player Welsh u16 international

Ellis Plummer- defender joined from Stockport County, playing well above his age group

Filip Orsula and Albert Rusnak make up the Slovakian contigent

Last game i saw there were twoex-players scouting for the fa at Platt Lane-one of whom mentioned Ellis Plummer as a very aware young defender. He looks very assured from the relatively few times i have seen him play.

I have heard of Emyr Huws-i was talking to a steward the week he signed-the scouting and coaching staff were certainly excited by his signing. Not sure if i have seen him play -last i heard of him he got an injury playing for Wales-i dont know if he is fit and playing again.

anyone interested in seeing young ellis plummer - his school in the fa schools national final at old trafford 28th march half 10 ko. in final mainly due to his ability. the goalie also on city's books
