Not too sure about this one. I think it may be Nery Castillo all over again.

Navas is a world champion who Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Liverpool have tried to sign in the past. Castillo was a nobody in comparison who had flopped in the Ukraine by the time we loaned him. And Navas is actually taller than Silva, Cazorla and Mata who have settled in just fine despite being quite lightweight. Not every team is full of thugs like Stoke. :)

I hope you're right. If he can settle in as Mata has done, he'll be a heck of an addition.

How they have managed to get the transfer fee and the wage so low is beyond me. Thats good for us anyway. Makes the player more motivated to do well, and saves us unnecessary spending which could be better spent elsewhere like for stadium improvements etc. :D

well he wants to move to city & sevilla have financial issues. so that's how.

well if his wages are only 2.5m Euros each year over 5 years then earning around 2m a year puts him in the 40K per week bracket, and cost on 17m, that makes a nice change.

Yeah thats what I make it, around 50k euros a week.

My word if we can keep wages like that going for all our forthcoming signings we have stuck gold with Ferran and Txiki.

Plus, Txiki is using Barcelona's method of low wages high bonuses isn't he? That is such a better wage model.

Obvioulsy some of the bigger name players will want more, but keeping it at a respectable level is definately something we should be looking for in the future.

I haven't attempted to do the maths but the reports i read earlier are saying 2.5m net which would be considerably higher than 40k a week.

2.5m euros a year divided by 52 weeks a year = around 48k euros

my maths isn't great mind.

On the Barca documentary that was posted last week it was clear that Soriano likes performance based pay....although they were suffering from the possibility of making a loss should they win the league due to the bonuses.

Re: Jesus Navas

Lets hope this paper are right regarding who we are signing.

Napoli forward Edinson Cavani, Malaga’s Isco, Sevilla’s Jesus Navas, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho and Roma defender Marquinhos are Pellegrini’s five big targets, according to the newspaper.

One down 4 to go anybody know anything about this defender.

That woud be a mega window.

Re: Jesus Navas

Remember how Johnson change so many games for us late on? Now imagine someone a bit more competent and with blistering pace to stretch a tired defensive line.

Good signing.

Marquihnos' s is a young Brazilian defender; a ball playing centre half like Nastasic.
A mainstay for Roma. He reads the game well. When you're looking at the best up and coming central defenders.
You'd look at Varane, Nastasic, Marquihnos, Zouma in no particular order.

Net though, isn't it. Hardly anybody uses net figures when referring to salaries in the English media.
