Lol at people saying hell be on the bench, he's a World Cup winner who will be a regular started for us, you don't pay 20 million for an impact sub
I'll disagree, we don't have a plan B, and our management know this. Of course they'll fork out 17m and 'low wages' for someone that can change the point of attack when probing through the middle isn't working.

And tbh we've paid more than 17mil for what ended up being impact players before.

Lets hope this paper are right regarding who we are signing.

Napoli forward Edinson Cavani, Malaga’s Isco, Sevilla’s Jesus Navas, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho and Roma defender Marquinhos are Pellegrini’s five big targets, according to the newspaper.

One down 4 to go anybody know anything about this defender.

Supposedly in top 5 young defenders in the world or there abouts.

Swap Isco for Bernard and that is a stunning window.

Yeah thats what I make it, around 50k euros a week.

My word if we can keep wages like that going for all our forthcoming signings we have stuck gold with Ferran and Txiki.

Plus, Txiki is using Barcelona's method of low wages high bonuses isn't he? That is such a better wage model.

Obvioulsy some of the bigger name players will want more, but keeping it at a respectable level is definately something we should be looking for in the future.

I haven't attempted to do the maths but the reports i read earlier are saying 2.5m net which would be considerably higher than 40k a week.

2.5m euros a year divided by 52 weeks a year = around 48k euros

my maths isn't great mind.
If both my maths and reports in Spain of €2.5m net salary are correct, Navas' wages will be just under £75,000 p/w.

Not 100% convinced by this guy (nothing to do with supposed homesickness)......think he will be very hit and miss and may struggle here..hope not
I'm not convinced he is of the level to be a regular starter for us but I think he can definitely be a vital impact sub.

lol
You can lol all you want but at least provide more substance...

I don't think he'll be starting a lot for us, that's just my opinion.

Of course he will start some games. However I don't see him displacing any of our current crop.

Re: Jesus Navas

£17m is a bargain for a World Cup winner. There are two deficiencies in his game

1) Goals. Our last winger AJ, had a lot of goals in him

2) Doesn't look that strong. There'll be times when he comes up against players like Baines and Bale, that he'll have to be strong defensively. Can he do that? Maybe he can. Looking at David Silva, you wouldn't think he could defend, but he can.

Looking forward to seeing the after-burners firing. He'll make David White look like Ricky Holden

Firstly I think he's what we are crying out for, a quality, pacey out and out winger who can assist and whip balls into the box. We don't have that. Personally would have him ahead of Nasri in the team as it would give us more penetration and not the tippy tappy crap we're used to

Actually WE do pay that for a sub. He is in fact a world cup winning impact player. He will start a reasonable number of games but he already would struggle to get into our best eleven, and if we sign others, he will drop further down the pecking order.

He is a vastly improved version of Adam Johnson and he brings us width and pace but more importantly a Plan B.

I have hope that this Jesus will answer my prayers
