On hearing the shots an inexperienced agent in the pursuit car bent down and picked up a rifle that accidentally discharged causing the fatal shot to the presidents skull.

It has all been hushed up since to hide their incompetence.

On watching some documentaries a few years ago that was the most plausible outcome.

Not quite, from my own research, some bloke called 'Grassy' Knoll, was the shooter....sounds like the mob to me.
