Jihadi John Song

More posts on these cretins/ rags singing this than replies recognising the good news in the match day thread. Foo kin wankers, hope he gets you if you sing this you despicable twats!

I don't like it, isn't in great taste but as ever blue moon needs to react in extreme fashion.

Out of interest how many of the people really offended have sang about Munich or Uwes grandad bombing the Stratford end. Is that insensitive to war victims?

Don't get me wrong I won't be singing it nor am I trying to defend it. Just interested to see if it's a case of mass double standards as ever

I don't think upsetting nutters is what it's all about, I'd say people find it in bad taste because:

The attacks were a month or so ago
Friends/collegeues were in Paris at the time
I can't imagine Sanga, Mangala or anyone else really wants reminding of what happened every week
Politics and football tend not to go together
People tend to go to football for a release
I agree about the inclusion of names, but the overall 'message' is a put down of a terrorist, a shit song to be sure, sung by pissheads,
but that's all it is. My 12 year old daughter was sat on the bin outside McDonald's where a bomb had been planted by the IRA, 15 minutes before it exploded,
killing two children; we still told jokes about the IRA, we still vociferously denounced them, we did not cravenly demand that any criticism of this
vile terrorist group be stifled, in case they took reprisals.
Plus, I don't see what politics has to do with this.

Just wrong on so many levels. You always get a minority of morons at any football club, I just hope if this is sang again, it is shouted down.

I imagine, I may be wrong, that you wouldn't want people singing songs about a bomb, you were nearly caught up in a few weeks later? It has nothing to do with reprisals, just very very bad taste and a lack of consideration for all those involved(directly or indirectly). Again, I may be wrong but I also can't imagine the families of the people ISIS beheaded joining in?

I'm all for sticking 2 figures up at ISIS and those like them, but I don't think a football ground is the place to do it - I don't remember songs about the Twin Towers when UK/US went into Afghanistan and Iraq?

There is a time and place for protest/action and if suggest being pissed at a football ground isn't the time or place

I mentioned the Uwe's grandad song last night - I stated that I doubt a single City fan has ever objected to it.

I also said that I don't like the references to Sagna/Paris in the song but the rest of it I couldn't be arsed either way. There have been way more offensive songs sung about far lesser cunts than Jihadi John at City games down the years and while I don't want to see a return to the dark days of the 70's and 80's, some of the ridiculously over the top bleating on this thread is indicative of how sanitised the game has become.

I agree to a point, your sentiments about football grounds are valid, but I certainly have no objection to mockery being directed against
terrorists, and showing restraint based on fear is not the way to go. Restraint regarding the naming of individuals who have had their names
bandied around does make sense, however, and I concede this.

In my humble opinion this is wrong in quite a few ways.
Firstly all the IS terror serves the purpose of getting them attention. What does this song do? Give them attention. Ignore the bastards, show them that our way of life cannot be affected by their miserable actions.
Secondly I think we should be better than celebrating the death of other human beings. If anything we should be celebrating our "values", which hopefully are better than what those IS barbarians have to offer.

You see, that's the thing. You missed the IRA bomb by minutes - I missed the Manchester bomb by minutes - but you know what - we've probably been on the aircraft after the last one that had an engine problem. We've probably been on the motorway 15 minutes before there was a major accident which blocked both carriageways off. We've probably walked across a road when 10 minutes later somebody's been hit by a vehicle. This is what we call 'life'. It's not fate, coincidence, the team you support or anything else. Each day is another day. It can be simple, complicated, bizarre, frustrating and yet so so fragile.
Good summary, but I always believe we can limit our liabilities in life and that's why I don't see the point in tempting fate. We all feel disgusted with what has taken place recently, but for me that is for politicians to resolve as it's probably they who started it all and left their respective nations to do their bidding for them.

Football is for football. If those who wanted to chant that song need a platform, why don't they organise their own protest march and not do it off the back of our football club.

One of the mst disgusting human beings to grace our planet gets mocked about his death in a song, so what.
I've head the hitler songs, and the songs sung at spurs fans, the endless Munich songs and this is of similar ilk.
I've heard the anti ira songs sung with vigour on mass by England fans, again it's of a similar nature, it's no great drama blues but it is no more or less than we have heard at football grounds for many year.
