Jim Beglin commenting "Emptyhad" on Live TV | City lodge complaint (pg 38)

Who the fuck says PIPSQUEAK? Fell off mi chair
I must admit l have used it only once in all my long life. But I've never had a little man called Philip squeak at me like a little bunny just because l am fed up of media people taking the piss out of my club.
It is a City forum so I gave my view that l was personally pissed off with it and the extra piss taking it's brought about. Even the club has complained about it and there have been nearly 60 pages of people expressing their views on this thread alone. As l said its a forum after all.

Very confusing time to say it as the attendance was very good on Saturday.

Emptyhad has somehow become a thing now, so much that people will genuinely believe we can't sell it out. They will see a few empty seats at a game and think emptyhad.

The same level of empty seats at Utd and same level of atmosphere gets ignored. Also helps when the commentary is saying a packed old Trafford willing them on, when they aren't and there are visible empty seats. The same commentary will criticize us in the same situation.
This is the thing. It was a PLP broadcast shown across the globe. Such defamatory remarks are taken in by the audience and taken as gospel. You only have to look at the replies to any City article on twitter from people in Scandinavia to Africa to Australia, all repeating the same Emptihad, no fans, plastic fans and they really do believe it.

Thick wool overcoats, donkey jackets, duffle coats, flat caps, BO, the smell of stale beer, everyone smoking, pissing it down from a leaden sky and other places, no women, constant noise, heaving and jostling.

As a small kid it was a bit scary at times.
Oh and the Friday evening's Greenhall Whitley being farted out.

I’m called Paul and it was you taking exception to me not caring as much as you thought I should.
Get over it, you can’t on one hand say it’s a forum then on the other hand throw a hissy fit because not everyone feels the same as you.

People who are very sensitive about empty seats jibes have a great opportunity to put the record straight. Tickets for City vs Fulham go on sale at 9am and I’m sure Pep and lads would love to see a full house for this game. Tickets will be affordable for most, too.
Get to the game isn't the answer. I've watched utd in the cup playing with half empty stadium. Last night's game Brighton wad half empty. Lfc s atmosphere is so bad they have a thread dedicated to it.

City are the only club targeted. We could fill the stadium more than anyone else we will still get the jibes.

i didnt know of him before, might have recognised his voice, dunno

sounds like a prick is first thing i would say. If your job is being a commentator then surely getting your words right is top of the list. Its like trying to be a marathon runner but you keep falling over every half a mile.

I thnk the poster who mentioned earlier about our sponsor, Etihad, being the butt of the quip as much as City, is spot on.

Very dense of Beglin to think that nobody connected with Etihad would be watching the game on BEIN, and not feel his little joke could damage the brand.

City may have let it go, but the expectation for a major brand sponsor and long term partner will be for us to highlight it lest it damage their brand.

Agree.

Every club has the same problem with empty seats and atmosphere. As Gorton says its only City that this is pointed out plus our transfer fees. That's why Beglin said it, it's now subconsciously in their minds. Commentators have called us utd on tv, happens more than I would like. The press/media keep saying utd are in Manchester clearly a lie.

It is now becoming very expensive to get to matches with higher petrol costs, household cost, food, heating etc the premier inn for midweek games lol.

true

and add to that fkn awkward just getting in the stadium with the ticket you have pre paid for.

A family of 4 have said to me could i get them 4 tickets for the fulham game as they are not members and have gone on the website and it looked messy. I said i will try but im not sure how to get 4 tickets to you if im being honest. So how many people have done the same and thought fuck it i will watch it on tv. ( highlights of course as its not on live unless you get a stream )
