Bernard manning ran his club nights to packed audiencies for years. He had all in his club, and welcomed, and took the piss out of them all. You calling a dead man a fat fucker is ok then is It?

I normally rail against revisionist attempts to ban/blacklist things that have just failed to move with the times, but JD truly deserves never to be heard again imho. I say that as someone who will to a point defend Bernard Manning. There was never anything funny about 'Chalky White', it was just a lazy and slightly sinister attempt to perpetuate a set of values that were not even acceptable at the time.

Chalky white? Im not totally convinced he ever called his fictional chararacter that, i think it maybe just have been chalky but i may be wrong.

I found him quite funny at the time as did millions of others. To critisise him now for an act he did 35 years ago seems a little bit strange to say the least.
Yes its dated, all comedy dates, as do all art forms.
