BRILLIANT thanks mate i love all that 1980s goals my era

He was my fave player during that time, had a lot of skill and could go past a player as though he wasnt there, scored loads of goals in his first season then just faded away..

All the best Jim in whatever you are doing nowadays..

Tolmie was such a talented player , a really good footballer ...... his partnership with Derek Parlane was a very effective one , full of goals.

Jim was a great fan of Afro Caribbean football and styled his hair on the great Jousinio.

Jim Tolmie was most fans favourite during 83-84.

During school hols, we would wait for him and Neil Mcnab outside mainr road and follow him dowm to the platt lane traing ground.
He would wear tatty Adidas world champions, but sparkly new ones in first team games.
After the previous dour season when we went down, He was a breath of fresh air.
About 4 or 5 of us would specially go to reserve games to see him play after rehabillitaion after an ankle injury. (Saw Paul and Michael Lake make there debuts for city during this Tolmie induced time)

Memorable goals were:

Debut goal away against Cardiff.(I dont actually remember that one!!)
Debut home brace against Barnsley: A beautiful 25yrd free kick into the platt lane end and then a solo sprint along the kippax before cooly slotting the ball past the keeper. Hadnt seen anythinglike it from a city player ever !!(M McCarthy was Barnsleys mustahioed captain at the time)

Goal against Grimbsby at home (w 2-1) ball cannons off the wall and sprightly Jim smashes in from an acute angle to win the game.. The roar in the kippax was immense

Goal against Brighton (Joe Corriga in nets for Brighton) we won 4-0 and jim put big joe the wrong way. I almost choked and fell off the kippax wall. Never seen such brilliance.

Probably my biggest city hero.

He must have been quite a good player coz he scored a lot of spectacular goals 4 manchester city.He was are elano of the 80s

I used to see him drinking in the Sandpiper most afternoons. He was staying there when he first moved here but seemed to stay there for quite a long time.

He struck up a good partnership with Parlane in his first season but seemed to fall out of favour and hardly got a look in the following season.
