Stevie Ireland was quality in training

Unfortunately you don't get points for training matches so it counts for fuck all I'm afraid!

The game at this level is about mentality and he doesn't have it

Neither does Milner....

I don't think you can question Milner's mentality, especially if you were there on Saturday (which I guess you weren't?). His decision making and distribution hasn't been great at times, but his mentality isn't in doubt for me.

I wasn't at the game? What are you basing that on? I won't bite though.

What is mentality to you? Is it another word for effort?

I don't want to slag him off too much cos I do like him and I don't think he's a bad player but he has fuck all confidence. When he gets the ball he won't run at a player because he doesn't believe he can beat them. And isn't decision-making part of mentality?

Yes he had a good 20 minutes against Blackpool but he was very poor tonight.

Against Everton in the first half Yaya had a go at him for not passing and then the next four or five times he had the ball he immediately gave it to Yaya in spite of whether it was the right decision, which it invariably wasn't. I don't expect you to remember that or anything (if you were at the game) but it is another example of him not being quite up to a place in our team.

He's poor but he'll do what Mancini asks him to which tonight was to track the full back and he probably did it better than Johnson would have done for an hour.
funniest thing ive read this week !
Really? Because he did exactly this.
Yes, he didn't offer much in attack, and was poor on the ball. But defensively, he was a massive help. And did a better job in tracking Walcott than Johnno would have/did.

So the "he's the fucking worst player I've ever seen" brigade need to be a little less melodramatic. We've watched Steve McManaman and Danny Mills FFS.

Clearly not good enough for where we want to be.

In his defence, he's been fairly professional this season: not caused trouble behind the scenes and done his best when selected. Sadly, his best is nowhere near good enough.

As soon as Silva, Balotelli and Dzeko are available for selection it's hard to see him starting again. Incompetent, but doesn't really deserve any hatred.

This. Remember we have a fantastic tie in the next round of the European Cup because of Jo's goal against a good team.

Tried hard but not up to it, bambi on ice comes to mind.Manchini should have taken him off at half time as it was like playing with 10 men.

I'd have him in the team ahead of Adebayor purely because he tries harder for the team.

But no way should he play instead of Johnson or even SWP.
