My take is the exact contrary, this spin is there to conceal a wretched deal. The amounts involved in no way compensate us for Brokeloana acquiring a £50m player for just his wages and the option to dump him back with us at the end of the season like Bayern. The Girona player to Wolves was a CFG transaction, nothing to do with Barca who needed to offload Garcia and a shedload of others anyway to get Felix on the payroll. Nunes for £53m wasn't cheap btw. Extending Cancelo's contract has turned out a major error.

It has otherwise we would be lumped with Cancelo paying his wages and him causing trouble. Being creative covers a lot of bases all around.
 
Really surprised there is no obligation to buy. Hopefully he does well and we can sell him for a decent fee to a Saudi club

Cancelo and Peps relationship must be beyond repair otherwise he would have made a very useful squad player.

They can't afford it because of ffp an obligation now is really you buying the player because is goes on the books as sold for that amount in uefa eyes rules! We will see him in preseason next year again then loan him again to Barcelona unless they get fed up with him and then the only option would be Saudi
 
By the way, for anyone surprised that we can't sell him it's because we gave him a new deal literally last year. We'll be back here the next few summers.
