Very carefully chosen words. Don't think Pep will be too happy if Cancelo is still here next month but the club have to draw a line somewhere or get rinsed for the remaining 3 years of his contract.

I expect if he does stay he'll get minutes, and we'll see how things go from there. But with Pep deciding whether to extend or not, we really can't afford any negative vibes.

Pep could not make it anymore obvious he wants him gone. One of Pep’s major strengths is his man management, he doesn’t have a connection with Cancelo and he’s saying that with this quote.

“…if he has to stay”. Christ. As close to a polite dig as you can get.

Can have all the ability in the world but if you’re a moody fucker who threw a sulk at a young kid rightly getting his chance ahead of you, you can go.

I personally hope he’s nowhere near the team by the time the window shuts.
