Joao Cancelo assaulted by 4 people in home invasion

Happening too often now, even breaking in to steal car keys.....people should be safe at home....they obviously follow news and thought he would be away in London with CITY as reported and only his family there - easy target. Too many of these 'gangs' and using more violence, hopefully will get caught if Police get intel and they need contacts to fence stolen goods.....get them caught and locked up for a few years. Cancelo is tough nut but this could have ended very badly for him and family - lets give him our full support.
The violence and weapons used are getting worse. It seems the days of a skilled robber breaking into your home barely making a sound are gone. These days they seemingly steam in, in gangs, sometimes by smashing a patio door in and brandishing and using weapons like machetes.

It’s one of the reasons I’ve recently moved into a second floor flat; for the extra security. However, I met my neighbour just after moving in who told me not to leave anything like a bike on the balcony because robbers climbed up and stole hers last year, so even 40ft up you’re still not safe!

When my Mother was growing up in Moss Side in the late 1950s and 60s, she said people didn’t always remember to lock their doors at night as neighbours were always in-and-out of each other’s houses through the day and sometimes you’d just forget. The threat of being robbed didn’t really enter peoples’ minds.
She said by the time she left in 1974 there were prostitutes on her street at night and some very dodgy characters around all the time. People would be locking their doors during the day.

What a shame our society took that turn.

I bet they thought Joao was away with City
- Why would the club tell the press that the whole team are staying in London for both games?
- Why was this mentioned during a TV commentary?
- Why have the EPL fixture list have us playing two away fixtures in this Xmas period?
- Why didn't the club object to two away back-to-back games in a 3 day period in London?

Why not? and why would we?

We live on a little island. The travelling that football teams and fans have to do is minimal in this country. That’s why we could come back home for the days in between because we’ve only got a little trip back down to London. It’s not like we’re from Perth in Australia and have had to go to Sydney for one away game, home for a few days, and then away to Brisbane.

I agree with your first two points though. Very silly on both parts.

This is the sort of event which could end up making him and his family want to move away from Manchester.
Fucking hope that’s not going to happen…
Stinks of dirty tricks to me. A lot of money in football and we know what that brings.
City are getting out of hand.
Do we know if Joao lives in a house or flat ? Couple of poorly fed Rottweilers wouldn't go amiss.

It seems like those twats were not expecting Cancelo to be home
Wish he'd invited Eddie, Dinho & Ruben to stay a few days. We'd be reading about 4 shithouses getting battered today.

Good luck Joao you did a cracking job defending your Family.

Think the players are in Manchester tbh.
The commentary on Prime (s Brentford) that the City players were staying down in London for the Arsenal game.... maybe this inspired the Burglars to think his home would be empty?

Perhaps the commentators should be a little bit more careful about the information they share with the viewing public?
