Britain's biggest 'fatberg' removed from London sewer

Britain's biggest ever 'fatberg' has been removed from a London sewer.

Thames Water say a "bus-sized lump" of food fat mixed with wet wipes formed in drains under London Road in Kingston, Surrey.

The blockage was discovered after residents in nearby flats complained they couldn't flush their toilets.


Thames Water believe if it wasn't removed it could have led to sewage flooding homes, streets and businesses.

Used to work for a tool/equipment hire co. We hired out safety harnesses and winches for drain inspections. They were really minging when they came back from McDonald's sites. Used to stink of stale grease and shit. The place used to stink for days. They always block their drains with the amount of grease they dispose of.

Worst sewer I've ever been in was in Blackpool directly under the abattoir. Think of any slash-horror movie and times it by 5, a truly awful place.

Isn't that usually the fireies? My mates dad is a fireman an he has seen some grim stuff in his time. Bodies from car wrecks, train tracks, burnt houses etc....both adults and kids. Would be a very tough job having to see some of the things they see.

I am having my Car fixed at the moment and so to kill the time I am in the local Library on the PC's. I have just laughed outloud at that and now everyone is looking at me like I am the local Nutjob !
