Hello all - long time forum reader, first time poster.
Was thinking about Joe and he occasional rush of blood coming off his line and putting us in a dangerous situation (i.e. - last year vs Chelsea and at least another time - Saturday against Olympiakos) and I'm very interested to see how Pellers handles it this season. He has what appears to be a world-class back-up in Caballero who in my opinion looked just as good if not better than Joe in preseason matches. More level-headed perhaps, slightly more consistent maybe.
So the question is, if Joe goes off his trolley again this year, how long will Pellers wait to pull him off and put in Willy? We can ill afford another string of dropped away games this season due partially to poor keeper play. I just hope he acts swiftly when deciding to bring in Willy if and when it is required and that we don't suffer too many negative consequences because he is "sticking by his #1".
Thoughts?
My thought is that of my frustrations and annoyance at the state of mind of many here and the constant skepticism and negativity towards Hart. As your post and other posts suggest, there is almost a psychological desire or expectation for Joe Hart to make a mistake or have a bad game so that all the irrational skeptics can come on here and attempt to justify and rationalise their criticism and disrespect for Joe Hart and his talent.
I reckon that is a sad and counterproductive state of mind but it is a natural one if you don't rate Joe Hart or you constantly berate him for whatever reason.
The guy is a top keeper, our No1 and we will need him to be at his best this season. He has more or less been a major player in our success over the past few years and we should ALL support him rather than set him up to fail even before the season has started by trying to project when he will be replaced.
Those are my thoughts.
