Joe Hart contract extension?

Re: Joe Hart Big Money New Deal

We need to stop with the paycheck envy. He will get what his employer thinks he is worth TO THEM! Some of that will include the opportunity cost of letting him go, some of it will be that he is an automatic home grown, so,e will be that he is a dressing room leader....oh, and some of it will be because he has saved us from losing points (and maybe even a Premier League trophy at Everton last season).

There is a rather large gulf, IMHO, between Hart and the next best British keeper, and there are not many in the world I would rank alongside him. His kicking is not the best, and he has stopped even trying to catch most crosses, but his punching has improved tremendously and he has not left his area recently, which is a blessing!

His contract, like every other new player contract in the last 12 months, is heavily incentivized to aid the club in an era of FFP....and incentive payments being outside the realm of penalties.

Good luck to you, Joe! Long may you reign over the nets at the Etihad!

Although I am a big fan of Joe Hart and his commitment to this club even before the takeover and every since he come from Shrewsbury in 2006. The new deal he's getting seems a little bit disproportionate to his performances in the last year and a half. But he does deserve a new deal but should he be paid 165,000 pounds a week. Seems to be a little overpaid in his terms of worth. But he's always come thru in clutch and I wouldn't want any other keeper replacing him.

Re: Joe Hart Big Money New Deal

Even if the figure is the inflated 30m over 5 years it is good value. Another GK of his quality would cost 20m in tranfers and at least 15m in salary over same period. Throw in bonuses and media rights and we have a bargain. Could argue that even if Joe ends up as our number two those figures are not disastourous.

Re: Joe Hart Big Money New Deal

Happy to see Hart extending his contract. As for the figures, it's the usual tabloid reporting shit. After 6 years we should know and used to this. If I wanna know, I simply ask Joe's agent or Txiki, Don't expect them to answer me, but than again I don't wanna know for starters.
It would be nice to see Hart in tiptop form tomorrow and keeping a blanc sheet. He can than leave the rest (us scoring) up to the other 10 left.

Where did these figures come from ?? The last I heard was his current salary was £80K a week and would be rising by a whopping 50%,taking it to an impressive £120K per week.
Is someone now saying he has doubled his weekly salary ???

All of the figures published in the RagDipper Meedya are totally fictitious. I'm sure Joe and all the other pros in the PL are forever wafting their payslips under the nose of hacks and journos. Anyway, that save on Saturday from Eto'o or Lucky Luk was well worth it!

Big wage for a goalkeeper. Glad he's staying at city and gna be signing a new deal. Been one of our best players this season.

Well said! I do get sick and tired of the inverted snobbery and financial envy. Talent and market forces determine the money he makes. Good luck to him.
