Joe Hart - First Goal ???

I feel for Joe because he has played really well since coming back from being dropped. He's dropped the Billy Big Bollocks attitude and look at the image of him at full time you can tell the goals he conceded hurt. But I dont think hes as overrated as people are saying he has been class since coming back and playing behind our shambolic back line cant be helping because he feels the need to step in if they arent doing their jobs properly. And it seems quite alot of our "fans" on here cant wait for him to put a foot wrong so they can slate him and ask for him to be sold etc. We should support our club and our players.

In terms of attributes, Hart might be better than Pantilimon.

But when Pantilimon played the defence looked settled and we conceded very few goals.

If Pellegrini had a back bone he would have told the media to fuck off and never reinstated Hart who is now back to leaking shit goals for fun. He is lucky Minone chucked a goal in tonight because he has been SHIT the last two matches.
Jesus Christ, Pantilimon is a terrible goalkeeper. No matter your feelings about Joe Hart, Pantilimon is worse.

Remember when he palmed the ball to Scott Dann in the FA Cup against Blackburn? Or when he took 35 decades to get down to Borini's shot in the League Cup final? Or when he flapped at every single low cross from the right hand side? Or when he was beaten by two identical goals scored by Theo Walcott and Osvaldo in the space of a couple of weeks? He's good to have in net for an early round cup game or against teams who enjoy lofting the ball into the area, but that's it. He's got zero technique with his shot-stopping, isn't much better than Hart with his kicking minus a couple of moments and is overall a much worse keeper. And to say that Hart is now "back to leaking shit goals for fun" is taking away just how good a finish that was from Wickham. Hart was at fault, along with Kompany, for Sterling's goal on Sunday - but that's it. The corner Liverpool scored from came from a fantastic Hart save after a Gerrard header and we all know Coutinho's goal came from one mistake from a man who's not Joe Hart. Remember Podolski's one-on-one that Hart saved with his legs? Imagine if that had gone in, eh?

He's not a world class keeper, but to say he's "back to leaking shit goals for fun" after a couple of dodgy results is unfair. And to imply that Pantilimon is the better goalkeeper? Well, that's too far.

Beat at the near post again :/

So similar to Ferno`s goal then !!!! Difference was did you see the power of their second goal.No fucking chance and neither would any other goalie.

I was right behind the goal in The South Stand & there's fuck all he could have done for either, both hit low with venom, all three at that end tonight were the same.

& you know me for criticising Hart in the past.

Of course he couldn't save it when his positioning was awful. He left enough space for truck to move through, not just the ball. He is not only to blame for that goal but that shot was very saveable. Just as would be Sterling's on Sunday, or Alves' against Barca if he was where he should be.

He saved their chance minutes earlier tonight because he positioned himself well.

He actually made a really good save when they were through on goal (probably from an offside position)

Yes, that one was good. Good positioning, made himself big and saved it. On their 2nd goal his positioning was laughable.

He's bit like Dzeko. If he doesn't have time to think but just to run out in 1 vs 1 situation he often does very well, and that's what made him England keeper. But outside of that, he rarely makes a save as his sense of positioning is very bad and the reaction on low left shots not close of one world class goalkeeper.

Just noticed that, according to the ESPN site, Petr Cech has played all of Chelsea's 34 games this season. Makes me wonder if we really do need rotation in that position.

I don't think he covered himself in glory for their 2nd. He, again, was getting invloved pushing players infront of him
Similar to Wigan goal in the cup final and one of Cardiff's goals this season. He seems too near to the front post to me. No reaction time. But what do I know ?

It's not the 1950s. News Flash - goals are now scored at the near post due to modern light footballs and the skills and accuracy of today's players making it more difficult to cover all eventualities.

I agree. Just one of those old football adages that sticks. Keepers should never be beaten at the near post, they should always catch crosses etc.
