Joe Hart - First Goal ???

Just noticed that, according to the ESPN site, Petr Cech has played all of Chelsea's 34 games this season. Makes me wonder if we really do need rotation in that position.

You don't but it's difficult to get a decent back up - if you don't offer them any playing time. Chelsea use Schwarzer who is still a good keeper is at an age where perhaps he doesn't care - and he probably got a good final pay day signing for Chelsea. So you are right you don't need to rotate but you need to find someone who's prepared to sit on the bench.

I give you Richard Wright, who is even five years younger than Schwarzer. :-)

Chelsea have been much smarter in buying someone like Courtois and having him gain invaluable experience on loan.

His positioning is absolutely awful! No matter how hard or low Wickham hit it Joe offered him near post and he took it, he gives away his near post every match!

Ay up, beaten at his near stick - roll us yer cap.

Beat by his poor positioning

It doesn't help him he is the last line of defence behind the back 4 who pee their pants everytime someone runs at them or puts a ball over the top
Oh for the days of a solid defence

In terms of attributes, Hart might be better than Pantilimon.

But when Pantilimon played the defence looked settled and we conceded very few goals.

If Pellegrini had a back bone he would have told the media to fuck off and never reinstated Hart who is now back to leaking shit goals for fun. He is lucky Minone chucked a goal in tonight because he has been SHIT the last two matches.
Jesus Christ, Pantilimon is a terrible goalkeeper. No matter your feelings about Joe Hart, Pantilimon is worse.

Remember when he palmed the ball to Scott Dann in the FA Cup against Blackburn? Or when he took 35 decades to get down to Borini's shot in the League Cup final? Or when he flapped at every single low cross from the right hand side? Or when he was beaten by two identical goals scored by Theo Walcott and Osvaldo in the space of a couple of weeks? He's good to have in net for an early round cup game or against teams who enjoy lofting the ball into the area, but that's it. He's got zero technique with his shot-stopping, isn't much better than Hart with his kicking minus a couple of moments and is overall a much worse keeper. And to say that Hart is now "back to leaking shit goals for fun" is taking away just how good a finish that was from Wickham. Hart was at fault, along with Kompany, for Sterling's goal on Sunday - but that's it. The corner Liverpool scored from came from a fantastic Hart save after a Gerrard header and we all know Coutinho's goal came from one mistake from a man who's not Joe Hart. Remember Podolski's one-on-one that Hart saved with his legs? Imagine if that had gone in, eh?

He's not a world class keeper, but to say he's "back to leaking shit goals for fun" after a couple of dodgy results is unfair. And to imply that Pantilimon is the better goalkeeper? Well, that's too far.
I actually said that Hart is the better ‘keeper;

In terms of attributes, Hart might be better than Pantilimon

So I agree with you that Hart is better. The point I made was that the defence looked more settled with Pant in net. I don’t know the reason for this. It might be because Pant doesn’t scream like a mad man at every set piece and bounce up and down on his line like he is having a seizure.

Really poor for that 2nd goal last night, not sure how Sterling got the ball in for the first goal at the Dippers either, but only gave it one viewing.

There's a fundamental weakness there that no manner of dropping and confidence boosting will get rid off, it's a technical weakness down low to his left hand side.
