Joe Hart: Is The Best Keeper In The World

Joe Hart's status

I'm 26 and so the earliest goalkeeper I remember is Tony Coton! I have never seen Joe Corrigan, Bert Trautman or any of the other goalkeepers who are classed as 'greats', and so Joe Hart is, by far, the best goalkeeper I have seen play for City!

Is Joe Hart going to become our greatest ever goalkeeper? Is he already?

How do you quantify that ?

Personally i see it as would i swap them for any other with blue specs taken away and looking at all aspects of his game compared with what i know about his peers.

With that i would say he is the best in the world as i would not want to swap him for anyone else, and by an ever growing margin.

Coton was no great shakes, no matter what other people might say, we have had miles better than him, big Joe Corrigan was immense at corners and one to ones, cos of his size, but struggled to get down to low shots, Nicky weaver had bags of potential but lost his way somewhere, Alan Dowd was a great shot stopper, but too small, dont get me started about Shay Given, could have been a legend, but no big match temperament, Immel was good but inconsistent. we had a Danish (I think) keeper for a few months who could have been great but left very quickly, dont know why. That's just from the top of my head, and already big Joe Hart has eclipsed them all as the best keeper I have ever seen in a City shirt.

We might never know whether he'll become Citys greatest ever keeper .... keepers like Swift and Trautmann are legends , and were apparently keepers of the very highest class , but as more and more older fans pass away there are likely to be few left who actually saw them play.

And Joe Hart is so young ...... he may not reach his peak for many years yet .
