I thought (as the last line of defence) Joe should have done better with the shot but, with better defenders in front of him, he wouldn't have, and shouldn't have, had to deal with it in the first place. When you look at the way both N Ireland and Wales defended on Sunday, committed, organised and, when it mattered, putting their bodies on the line in order to block a shot and then watch as England's central defenders just let Iceland stroll through them. Nobody even attempted to stop him getting that shot in, unfortunately that's when you need your keeper to pull you out of the shit, and Joe didn't last night or against Wales.
If Lee Dixon can assess Icelands threat from throw ins and sort out a plan to deal with it in half an hour and, other than mentoring the Arsenal lad Jenkinson, he doesn't do any coaching, why on earth couldn't 'England's greatest right back' Gary Neville sort it in a week. Then, as Dixon highlighted, not change it at half time when we'd conceded because of it.
