I thought Ter Stegen had replaced him until he got injured? Also he is 33 and if he is so good why would the best club side let him go?
it might be because they have a younger replacement and it makes good sense to move a player on while his contract holds some value rather than letting him get so old that no one wants him anymore or his contract runs down and he moves on for free.

Ter Stegen would have left barca for City had they not reacted. Barca wanted to keep Bravo but it seems Bravo wants to come here to be number 1. At the moment, Bravo is the better of the two Barca keepers.

Because they have opted for Ter Stegen as their no 1 - do you actually read any posts ?

So he is an improvement on Hart but he isn't the number one at his club and at 33 is 4 years older than Hart and will cost us 18 million? I haven't read all the posts no and I am not stupid. To be honest Barca's keeper's never interested me all that much until we are suddenly interested in replacing our keeper with one.

Even though he is perhaps second choice when both are fit now, he's not second choice in the same way Willy is second choice. As someone said it's a little like Given when Hart surpassed him. He's an accomplished keeper who was first choice and made it a hard for Ter Stegan to take his place.

He has the abilities and plays the Barcelona way which still has Pep's footprint on it, with Nolito who has worked with Pep before there's two players at either end of the field that could be a big help to get the other players up to speed. I think it was Pep who said himself when they are on the pitch they don't always hear him when he shouts instructions, he could be a prefect option for the short term and he is certainly good enough for us not to be worried about him shipping easy goals(I still say Hart is the better shot stopper but that's not the point) or flapping under pressure in the prem.

Maybe you just shouldn't post about things you don't know about.

Yes it was, not enough to merit how he's now being treated though. Okay the club haven't criticised him openly at all but they've left him open to a hell of a lot of flack unfairly & created mass speculation about his future.
Sorry mate and no disrespect, but that is just nonsense. So were not allowed to drop a player now as it invites flack from external parties. Genuinely, please tell me how the club could have dropped him and not got the same response.

Joe has been given every opportunity in training to demonstrate his skills and he has,nt. The club are not going to keep playing him so as not to stir the media pot

Just listened to Ian Cheeseman on the excellent American Cityzens podcast. He was being very diplomatic but had clearly heard something. He made it clear though that (a) it was a personal rather than a football issue and (b) he was out and there was no way back.

That just reinforces my belief that something has happened prior to Pep coming that crossed a line, that a decision was taken some time ago and Pep's arrival represents an opportunity to execute that decision.

I know Joe Hart is a fine keeper an opinion shared by many experts in the game. I watch him every week and the thread is about him is it not? So to those of you out there with greater knowledge of the other keeper do you think he is better than Hart and worth spending 18 million on at the age of 33?

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
