I don't like it, never will, no matter what we win in the next few seasons, I will always believe we would be able to win the same with Joe. I don't think he was given any chance to develop the skills that Pep wants. People saying he just hoofs it long, well for many seasons, he didn't exactly have a choice! You have to have other players to pass to, passing from the back isn't all about the goalie, and now that all the defenders are coached properly as to how to make themselves available it would have given Joe the chance to show he does have the skills or can develop them. He's not getting that opportunity, a few weeks in training isn't enough to judge anyone on.
However, we don't have a choice, we as a club have made the pursuit of Pep our prime goal for 6 years and so he must be left to do what he believes is best, he will make mistakes though and this may or may not be one of them, but to have a player who has been with us for 10 years is rare in this age and not only his loyalty but his hard work, commitment and passion for playing for City would have been highly valuable and I'm sorry if some don't like this, but he's English and that helps the soul of our club. Winning is the most important thing right now, but it isn't and never will be the only thing.
