The big error was perhaps having a wall in the first place but how many keepers would not have gone for a wall?

maybe so but bale gets the ball moving and its the dip thats fooling the keepers it dips so late your body movment cannot match it and your hands have no chance the wall would not be wrong and joe makes the call on that but the only thing i can see that joe did wrong was not standing in the middle of the goal

Just a mistake, he's a good keeper who has had a fine season. Think he might have let Bale's reputation psyche him out a bit, like the Slovakia keeper did on the weekend.

Noticed you ruffling some feathers on the Sterling thread as well.
I think Joe Hart needs to concentrate on his positioning on free kicks sometimes,i doubt he's worried about building his left wrist up through wanking whilst organising his defensive wall though.

Edit This was meant to be a reply to Tricky Trev.

Getting down to his left is a bit of a weakness of his I think. Having said that, the pundits annoyed me. Having played in net at a decent level, where these kind of modern footballs are used, I can tell you that the ball can pick up speed unexpectedly. It's not really visible on replays (because the ball doesn't dip or move from side to side) but it gathers speed and arrives at you much quicker than you expect. I know Hart should be used to this but he doesn't have Bale pinging free kicks at him all that often.

He still should have saved it, but it's annoying how none of the pundits understand the difficult behind pulling off fairly routine saves. They just kept beating on about it having no dip or swerve.
