I've joked about the situation but I have to admit that it was heartbreaking to see him try and carry on barking instructions despite tearing up at the chants. I still remember the first time I saw him when he was warming up with Kasper before a game - I forget our opponents - and I had no idea who he was. We used to sit in the second or third row right behind the goal and I just remember thinking "jeeesus he swears a lot". I had no idea he would become such an important part of our most successful period in history.

He's now in a situation where he would genuinely have a fight on his hands to become our number one again. Like the Pantilimon situation under Pellegrini but with a genuinely world class goal keeper who is accustomed to playing the way Guardiola wants. From my perspective, it would be perfect to see Joe scrap it out and come out the other side stronger and improved. However, during that time toiling away on the training pitch and on the sub's bench, his England place would inevitably be gone and his name would be all but forgotten by all but us. Well, if the rumours are true and he does go to Liverpool, he's guaranteed the England number one spot for as long as he can tie his own laces.

I understand why he'd want to leave and it seems (from the interview) he understands why he's being replaced as our number one. A lot has been made about there being "no sentiment" and "they're only here for the pay checks" and, although I agree to a certain extent, this is football. If you have zero emotional attachment to the team and the players, then you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, Pep knows his onions - but Hart isn't crap all of a sudden, not many stoppers stop Messi.
Great the club gets a better keeper, BUT, to me its more than football, especially with Joe, the lads been with us since a kid.
I know most won't agree with me, but I'd rather keep him, and work on that side of his game -footwork/distribution etc...

One things for sure he'll use this to his own good and improve, and the other club who gets him and England will benefit - I guarantee it!
We will miss his steal and determination - definitely
- good luck Joe, wherever you go.

He is a better keeper than hart. In every single way
But most importantly, he is a better keeper in the way we now play, by a country mile.

Everyone wishes the very best for Hart, but dont be so naive mate.
Watch La Liga (and the best football team ) in the world at some point and see why he was and still IS their best keeper. TS being kept is simply a matter of age and potential

Take those blue tinted specs of and soak it up, this is the best way forward with an absolute top 5 keeper in the world coming in

I say it again... our last 4 managers.. Hughes, Bobby, Pellegrini and now Pep all wanted Hart out/didnt fancy him at all and it was made public in each case
They arent all wrong. He is seen by every other fan base as an over rated keeper held in high esteem due to his in your face passion and loud mouth
I rate him much higher than that, but dont dismiss the keeper coming in and the one you will be cheering on in the next few years. Get some respect all round

^this^

Look i'm a big joe fan,and i will always be grateful we had him and developed him at City.
But its time to move on,its that or we just tell Pep to fck off as we dont want to play his game and we prefer player power.
Also im not fully 100% behind the last 4 managers wanting him out theory, but not here start a argument.
All that being said i will be far more upset when Zabba finally leaves.

Agreed about Bravo coming in, it is for the best. Not sure he is better keeper every aspect than Joe though, it's all subjective.

Where is the evidence that he was wanted out by all managers though? I mean there is a lot of gossip and that one keeps cropping up, on this thread alone Hart has been accused of all sorts and I am not sure how much is true. And what you mean by every other fanbase thinks he is overrated? Where does that impression come from? There was aa lot of love for Joe last night, I didnt see this glad to get rid attitude you think is out there.

Is Bravo a better goalie than Hart? I reckon most would say no or at least the jury is out. How can this then be a step towards our ambition to become world class?
That is hardly a fair question to ask us. Most of us watch City through our blue tinted specs of bias, so most would probably say Joe is better(sentimental fondness?). I haven't watched Bravo nowhere near as much but Pep has and he makes the decisions. At 29, I have previously stated that by now, Joe should be a world class keeper, and imho, he isn't Too error prone and too many flaws in his game I think.

Exactly, that is one of the worse lines I've read on here, someone ITK hahahaha saying that about all these managers wanting him out, cause he's a bad egg......bollocks,that is talking shit, and loads are jumping on it,it is fucking comical

I don't like that either.

Pretty much all the top players everywhere have personalities which need dealing with from time to time. Mancini & Pellegrini used Hart for years.

Much more likely it was his goalkeeping they weren't 100% convinced about.

But he saw off all potential newcomers to keep the shirt, although to slightly contradict myself,he should never have been in goal for the final v Wigan,I'm still convinced Costel would have saved that Watson header, and he had played in every round up to the final

maybe on my behalf but then again i dont pick the players or make the decisions. it is pep if anyone who is picking players on sentiment based on his bumchumminess with bravo tango zero or whatever the fuck he's called
Nonsense, Guardiola left Barcelona about 2 years before they signed Bravo. He's signing him because he know's Bravo's abilities inside out having watched him in La Liga from when he joined Real Sociedad in 2006.

In some ways he's definitely better, and those are the ways which will impact the way we play more than others. He may not command the area as well, and may not be as solid on crosses, but he's infinitely better with his feet, and just as good when it comes to shot stopping. I don't believe, when all attributes are considered, he's substantially better than Hart, however given the way we intend on playing, and the strengths you need in a keeper to be part of that way of playing, Bravo is certainly a far better fit for City.

You seriously think Joe commands his area and is solid on crosses ? If Bravo isn't better in these areas than Joe I would be very surprised.

I do not know whether Bravo is or isn't stronger in these areas as I haven't seen enough of him but these are areas of Joe's game that I see as weaknesses.

I get the impression that both Bob, & The Clown, would have preferred something different to Hart, but either they couldn't find the right man, or didn't want to spend big money on a keeper.

There have always been rumours of City looking at keepers. But clearly they didn't feel so strongly, that they went for it 100%, which they certainly would have, if he was this awful character some are pretending.

Edit: and of course Hughes did actually move him out. Again a keeper decision imo not a personal one.

When we all took a look at the squad in the summer, having watched us last season, Joe was not one of the top 5 or 7 players who needreplacing. We can all understand Yaya going, and Samir, and could with Kolarov, and a handful more. But Joe was not a player who needed replacing, certainly not as much as Bony, or Kolarov, or Zabaleta. And maybe Bravo is better, but he's 33, he doesn't know the league, Joe's one of the few who really love the club and I think Pep has got this wrong. He could have trully given Joe a chance like he's said he will, but he hasn't, and I don't believe he was being honest with that, because I think he knows he's wrong but he wants to make a statement.
