Joe Hart [Merged]

Re: Joe Hart, a theory...

We've got potentially the best keeper in the world at our club. The older he gets the better he'll be. Remember that Rednosed Dane at the scum had a few cock ups in his early years.

Re: Joe Hart, a theory...

IMO he seems to being found out in CL, hopefully he will learn from these mistakes which in turn will improve him as a player.

Re: Joe Hart, a theory...

Top class keepers want to play every week. Unless you have a good bright up and comming keeper who is willing to sit on the bench for a year or two. Given was never going to stay once he was second choice.
Joe has made some great saves at important times in games, yes he has made mistakes, what I like is the way he gets back up from a mistake.

Re: Joe Hart, a theory...

Last season Hart was lucky to stay in the team with Given at the club. He was at fault for a number of goals during that season as he has been this season. Stupid basic keeping is his biggest fault. His concentration is poor and distribution is hit and miss.

I don't agree with this at all. I think Given is a very average goalkeeper. Joe Hart has so many more positives to his game. All goalkeepers are at fault for a number of goals at every club. His concentration isn't poor, he might have the odd lapse but so does everyone. I
think his ditribution is always improving. He can kick it 30ft into the opposition half now, when he first came to the club he could get it over the half way line. His throwing has improved ten fold (Shay Given never tree it out ever). His accuracy at everything is getting better. Twelve months ago I'd say his distribution was hit and miss but not this season.

His one big downfall is parrying shots into dangerous areas. This needs to improve.

If it weren't for Joe in Napoli we would have lost 4-1!

While joe has still been decent in net this season, i think everyone must admit that he has made more errors than last season put together, several of which have led to silly goals being conceded.

He is not the only reason we are conceding more this season; we arent as defensive in games as we were last season, but i think he could have conceded a few less.

Now, could the reason behind this be the lack of a serious back up keeper? He is ubtouchable in our squad as costel is unlikely to become our regular number one. Last season he had given waiting in the wings and at birmingham he was not guaranteed a place in either the birmingham or city team, so he had to be on top of his game.

However, is the lack of a quality replacement leading to him becoming slightly complacement? Im sure his motivation is to help his club and his teammates and he isnt a selfish player, but i wonder if the lack of a proven gk on the bench has caused some of the errors?
Disagree at Brum they only had Maik Taylor. Not that i know the in's and outs of what they do in training but kicking used to be one of his stronger points it seems to have gone a bit under Massimo Battara

Re: Joe Hart, a theory...

Unbelievable. Joe has saved us more points than he has cost us and is still very young for a keeper.

Re: Joe Hart, a theory...

Off topic, but how much do you think Joe would be worth? I know he'd never be sold, he's City through and through, and after his comments when he signed a new contract I can fully envision him being a one man team, but he is a class keeper. Any guesses?
