Joe shouldn't have had to make the save in the first place imo

this.

i won't say this very often, but it was de jong's fault.
This really frustrates me, yes we made other mistakes in the build up to their goal but that doesn't mean we should just forget about what hart did wrong, as it happens tho I don't think he could do much else as the shot was hit so quickly with so much power.

This thread is ridiculous.

Every time you concede, there's always something you could have done differently.

But if you'd done that differently, who's to say the attacker wouldn't have done it differently. And then you're back to square one.

Neville Southall and Schmeichel both used to make loads of saves just by flinging themselves in a star towards the ball. Cech does a similar thing. Their increased size makes the attacker shit himself and hit the ball straight at the keeper. Joe's also pretty good at this, case in point Agbonlahor on Saturday.

Not sure the thread is ridiculous.

What is "ridiculous" is the way the Bluemoon forum tries to shut down anything that resembles criticism of certain players ( Hart / De Jong) but positively lathers itself into a frenzy over putting the boot into others (Kolarov / Dzeko etc)

Hart is England's No 1 choice keeper.
Successive City managers have identified him as our No 1 Keeper.
He is clearly a very good keeper.

However....
- his complacency when kicking was always an accident waiting to happen (slightly better this season)
- a couple of CL goals conceeded this season might not have happened if he had been able to parry the ball away from goal rather than into the path of the attacker.

I'm not saying we should sign another keeper, but don't trash the posters pointing out what we can all see with our own eyes...
i.e. that Joe still has areas where he can improve his game.

Re: Joe Hart

I would rather have Hart in my goal than De Gea or any other Keeper in the league. A gem!

No I don't at all I'm making the point that just because there were other mistakes in the build up to their goal that shouldn't stop us looking at what hart did wrong rather than just saying oh silva and de Jong made the mistake so whatever joe does after those mistakes is irrelevant it's their fault! However looking at harts save I don't think he could do much else, I think you'll realise I wasn't contradicting myself in that statement

To be fair, you did contradict yourself. You said he did something wrong and then said he couldn't do much else with the shot.

Re: Joe Hart

When the team make mistakes, that's when Joe's needed. If he doesn't save when called upon, by stopping the danger completely, he can be regarded at fault - and I do regard him at fault against Villareal for doing the same mistake again that he did twice in Munich. 3 goals from bad parries; he has to stop them somehow.
I wonder why keepers don't make more of an effort to catch/gather the ball - he got down well to that shot on Tuesday night. Yes it was travelling quickly, but - while i haven't watched it again before typing this - didn't he get both hands down to it? If he doesn't have the momentum in his dive to help push/punch the ball away, he should try holding the fuckin' thing! Especially if he's got down to it with both hands. He's got hands like buckets and non-slip gloves for Christ's sake!
Still an absolutely top goalie tho, but that doesn't exempt him from criticism, and he'll be looking at those goals, I'm sure. Personally, I wouldn't wouldn't swap him for anyone else in the premier league. Reina gets pretty rave reviews but he's also error prone under pressure.

Same type of goal against us as the first goal against munich.. you think he would learn.

But why did not put the ball out to the left instad of pass it back?
