Everyone is easy to jump on an outfield players back or criticise them, but when it comes to keepers they think it's a different story.

well it's not.

Poor goalkeeper for their goal again today, no excuses.

you can't go as far as slag him and have a go, but it's this one little thing that's just not improving.

he can't distribute a ball and we know that, but his shot stopping at times has become a little suspect this season.

I think his distribution has improved alot this season

It has a little, but it's still shocking.

Given was the same for us.

Re: Joe Hart

Wow 16 pages! The most disappointed person after that goal will be Joe Hart. He hates any goal going in and especially if he thinks/knows he was culpable.

100% confident he will be working on knocking those balls away from goal as I am sure he always does anyway. Top class keeper who makes the odd mistake but I wouldnt have any one else there.

Re: Joe Hart

Does he look so good because usually he is so well protected he has so little to do?

It is getting a little worrying that he keeps spilling shots right into the danger area EVERY time he has to deal with one.

He is a good keeper but he doesn't look inspirational and a huge presence, like a Schmeichel[the dad not the son] or Joe Corrigan.

The thing is this is a trend to his game. If you dont learn after the first mistake you will never learn. He has been doing this for a long time. Todays fuck up has ended up with us losing our captain for 2 to 3 games for a red card. The shot was from a good distance out he could of gathered that ball into his body or tip it wide for a corner. Joe has his plus's but if he cant stay focused and do the basics well then we will see more of this to come. Englands number 1 sure he is but the competition for that isnt there. Still needs to work hard on shot stopping. The Hart lovers will state hes the best thing since sliced bread but if these mistakes keep happening the defence ahead of him will be losing a bit of confidence in him.

It wasnt me. I rate him but not as highly as most of the fans on here. If you say anything bad about him by some on here you know shit. We all look at the same game and if people think a player done bad for a goal it will be highlighted. Thats all that people are doing with Joe some fans dont like it but it has to be said. Joe get more than his fair share of praise so he will also get his fair share of stick.

Re: Joe Hart

Watched the goal again and it was a howler i'm afraid. The shot was straight at him and not even that hard and he spilled it.

He was in the Premier League 11 the year he was at Birmingham where he probably had more work to do than any keeper in the league.

The only keepers in the league I would put on his level right now are Reina and Vorm (Swansea).

Re: Joe Hart

That is true he had an outstanding season at Birmingham.I would stick Schwarzer in the mix as well, plus Brad Friedel ain't bad.

As I said he will know better than anyone he made a mistake and this one was a big one and he will expect and accept the stick he gets.I don't think he needed to be pushing it anywhere ,he just got it wrong. As for learning from it I am not sure what the point is. He doesnt have to learn not to push the ball out as he already knows that he shouldnt do it.

What he has to learn is not to make a mistake! Well I think he knows that as well but at the moment he is making the odd mistake and he isnt doing it on purpose. So he isnt in the best of form but he will be working very hard to cut these mistakes out of his game you can be sure of that.

Re: Joe Hart

After commenting earlier and saying it was poor goalkeeping..

I watched it on MOTD, and i thought before i watched it why didn't he put it around the post?

but on second viewing he actually should have CAUGHT it.

his shot stopping his world class, and imo Hart and Given are the 2 best shot stoppers in the country.

but the last few months, he's been a bit shaky. he should have gobbled that one up today.

Made a couple of errors in technique rather than judgement. That will get better and wouldn't swap him for anyone.
Indeed! I'm more concerned at Kompany's mistakes than our goalkeeper's who wont come into his prime for another five+ years!

Re: Joe Hart

He's not the finished article, by any means. I don't think his distribution is particularly good. Look at the distribution of Reina, Valdes, and Neuer, they can start attacks from within their area. He made a howler yesterday, and its not the first.

what a load of bollocks

frank swift was agruably the greatest goalie ever if you think hart is going to match that give your head a good long shake FFS

ps you might do well to find a few things out about the clubs history before talking up average players

you do the great players in Citys history a diservice

How strange.

Sorry pal but could I borrow your time machine please because clearly you can for see potentially 18 years of Hart playing for us and see for sure that he wont match Frank Swift.

oh, whats that, you cant tell the future. So then you have no idea if he will go onto to be our greatest ever keeper.

Really annoys me when people just dismiss out of hand players whose potential is yet to be fulfilled.

even If Hart has anywhwere near that much potential which I doubt he has already proved he lacks the total committment to forfil it

likes a drink too much for one but hey thats my opinion and heard all these
arguments about how good nicky weaver was going to be

absolute idiot. kfa idiot.

Re: Joe Hart

Joe hart is world class and this isnt mean slating him at all! I think hes quality. But it seems sometimes he just doesnt like the responsibility, therefore if it fucks up its not his fault. Such as if he parries it, then you could blame the defenders for not reacting fast enough ---> as oppose to trying to catch it and fucking up. Also when he just oofs it up field, gets it away from him so if he fucks up hes not to blame.

Re: Joe Hart

I have no concerns about Joe Hart, at all. He is doing a top job.

What does worry me is the repetitive nature of the mistake. If this was a one time thing, I would not be worried, but it is becoming pattern this season. I do however trust that the goalkeeper coaches are making this a priority.
