He’s had a few bad seasons but he still can be a good keeper in my mind. Particularly if the defence is pretty solid.

I think only City fans with fond memories of him still think this way, hence why it's taken until 6 days before the deadline for any club to show interest in him.

I am very fond of him but i don't think that way,i judge him on his time with us and the loyalty he showed the club, other players get lauded for giving us their best years and putting us on the path in 2012 but not him for some reason,he has fallen of a cliff, why i don't know but he can get back on track and play a decent part at burnley, hope so anyway, maybe we should have all his threads locked if we sell him, chapter over and done with

I've been downloading old games these last few days, honestly people forget he was part of the best defence for 3yrs pulling off great save after great save, why people act like ****s towards him is beyond me

Completely agree with this. Joe was superb for us, it's sad to see how his career has gone. Hope he does well at Burnley. Especially when they play those bastards from old trafford.

Hes dislocated his shoulder and had an operation. Burnley don't know when he'll return and Heaton is still coming back from his injury last year

Strangely enough wasn't it when Shay Given dislocated his shoulder (or at least got a shoulder injury) that Joe got his break (no pun intended) with us? Didn't we bring him back from loan somewhere.

Maybe it is history repeating itself and this could be the touch of luck Joe needs to get back on track. Good luck Joe

Well good luck to him if he goes, he was our keeper throughout the first period of our revival and won't be forgotten for his crucial saves.

No, he was on loan at Brum and we couldn't bring him back - instead we had to bring Marton Fullop in on loan for the 3 (I think) final games.
I think in the game Given did his shoulder in is where the keeper from the Faroe Islands came on as sub.

Ah yes of course now I remember the furore over not being able to get someone back. Was it that we didn't have it written into his loan contract or something that we could ask for him back or were we not allowed to do that?

Fair point but maybe his wages were putting anyone interested off.

Interesting move for him, could be just what he needs.
