Given is 34 in April and is a small keeper who relies totally on his speed and agility unlike most top keepers. Hart will spend another year at Brum, or somewhere else if they go down, and by the time he gets back Given will be 35 and beginning to decline rapidly in my opinion. They will probably have one season fighting it out with each other for the shirt, which will only make Hart better, and I fully expect Hart to come out on top in that battle and be City and England's #1 for many years to come.

3.5 million? Somebody down in Birmingham has had a few too many shandys over Xmass

I hope Given accepts his decline when it comes, and is a sound bloke about helping Hart improve during the transition.

Hart was better than Given from the start, ask any newcastle fan and they will all tell you what your own eyes should confirm,

Yes Given is a brilliant shot stopper.........but fails to hold on to the ball, and high balls in are a big weakness and always have been, never commands his area and trys to get rid of the ball quickly but without seeing whats on up the pitch.

Hart was better even with the inexperiance, holds on to balls or pushes them away, good with high balls and talks to defenders.......his weakness if you can call it that, were inexperiance, but the only way to get that was to play, and the same humping the ball out to much already been ironed out with some decent coaching at brum.

Numpty went for experiance over talent because he was incapable of seeing it and so relied on what others thought, mostly the media, and then handled Joe the same cack handed way he did with others by fobbing him off.

Joe Hart will go on to play for England, he will be a fantastic keeper, I just hope its with us.

Just a small point, why would City want to sell Hart ? That is why this story is a non starter. The Mirror article also says that Brum have already paid 1 million in loan fees "which will come off the final transfer fee".......D*cks, no it won't because we are not selling him. Hughes realsied that Hart needed more experience and therefore LOANED him out to another club. Next season (probably) he will be back with us. Don't forget Hart needs us for his future with England, we will be in Europe Brum wont so any temper tantrums will be smoothed out. This is just another Journo no story.
