If Pants plays well enough, I have no problem with him permanently replacing Hart in goal. With all the talk about putting trust in Joe and not hurting Joe's confidence, imagine being the guy working hard every day in training and never getting a chance. What about putting some trust in Pants and worrying about his confidence when he was still not getting picked despite multiple errors from Hart. Must have been "doing his bloody head in".

I agree that you don't necessarily drop someone after their first mistake, but too much inertia in making team changes leads to its own problems. Joe seems like a decent guy, but if Pants is better for City, I want him in the team.

That Durham article is absolute bollocks , either on a wind up or genuinely an idiot.

Have a look at Dungham's book reviews on amazon. Absolute tool.

Just mentioned no English players starting for us tonight. He's a sly fucker.

He's a sly fucker, but don't you think it's a shame that no English players are starting for the club ?

Nasty agrees with you too

MAN CITY DEFENDER NASTASIC BREAKS SILENCE OVER HART CHELSEA BLUNDER
Mon, 11/04/2013

Manchester City stopper Matija Nastasic has defended Joe Hart after last week's blunder goal in defeat to Chelsea.
Nastasic spoke for the first time since the incident that allowed Fernando Torres to net a last-minute Chelsea winner.
"It was a difficult situation because I was the player on the ball. Joe was coming from the line and I didn’t see him," said Nastasic. "I think it is my fault and Joe’s fault."

I think Nasty's being rather modest in sharing the responsibility

Thanks GH.
I scoured the MEN website to cut and paste that but couldn't find it.
Wonder if the sun will splash it across the back pages tomorrow..?

Nastasic was hardly likely to say "It was all Joe's fault, if he'd have stayed on his line we'd have come away with a point but instead he made another stupid decision and cost us the game!", wouldn't be good for morale would it? Just a diplomatic answer to a probing question.
diplomatic possibly, nasty partly to blame DEFINITELY...

Allowing Barry to go on loan has left us with 4 English players, all internationals.
I am sure they will all play their part during the season as we mount a challenge in all 4 competitions.
I find it more of a shame the media are using this to have a sly dig at us, never heard too much of a fuss when the arse had no English players.

To be fair, Costel joined city knowing that he would be mostly on the bench.

I expect that Costel will retain the job at least for the Sunderland and Spurs games. I expect hart to play against Plzen, just as I would have expected Costel to play in that game if he were no 2.

After that I'm not sure who will get picked. There's a strong argument for saying that Costel stays as number one as long as his form justifies it. That would leave Hart to play against Leicester and Bayern, if we play a weakened team.

But I think Pellegrini will want Hart to get a run of games in December including some high pressure matches. With the January transfer window approaching, there is obviously a decision to be made about whether we sign a new keeper. I hope and expect Hart to be given a chance to redeem himself before that decision is made.

I have a feeling Joe is gonna come back and be at his absolute best in the coming months. He got to comfortable, it was easy to see.

Last night Pantilimon continued to look what he is, a competent back up. Joe should return for next Sunday if they want the best keeper at the club to actually play.

He won't return next Sunday though ... he'll return when the management see fit to return him to his starting berth. Until then we should all get behind Pants - was great to hear the home crowd chanting his name last night.

Joe will come back a better keeper for what's currently going on. That will be to our benefit and it's excellent management. In many respects much better management than not dropping him whilst lambasting him in the press.

I tend to agree.
At the end of the day, if we really want to test Pants honestly, we must let him have a run of at least 5~6 games in a row, and let us
Do the compareasons after that.

to be fair he should be given a couple of months Hart has had his chance and blew it
Hart was given much more than 5-6 games so why Pantillimon should get less baffles me

Pantillimon is a City player just the same as Hart and I find it appalling that everyone is not getting behind him or discriminating against him

give him until January and make decisions then Hart can be judged just as Pantillimon was
in league cup games and dead games etc

Joseph's biggest recent mistake was not learning to shout loud enough in serbo-spanish

I'm behind him, he does well then City do well it's a no brainer.

Taking Hart out of the firing line was probably the best move, help him refocus and give Pants a chance to stake his claim.

However one thing I take issue with is why it baffles you that people don't think Pants should get more than 5 or 6 games.

I'll put it like this, let's say Vinnie hit a serious dip in form, for arguments sake Boyata replaced him and held his own putting in good performances along the way, do you leave Boyata there in place of the superior player or do you bring Vinnie back in after a spell?

People seem to be forgetting just how good Hart can be, he was arguably the PL's best keeper for three years on the bounce until his confidence took a serious blow early last season.
