On the Footballers Football Show Matt Murray (ex wolves keeper) and Barton saying the media got Hart dropped then followed it up by giving Pantilimon man of the match at Newcastle. Granted there were mistakes but not as many as people think. Last night Bale beat Buffon at his near post skys reaction was to credit Bale for the power of the shot shows the difference depending on who's the flavour of the month.

Bale's was a good finish and there was no goalie error. Also, many on here recognised Joe was making errors that were costing us results whilst he was still a media favourite.

Joe will be back better for this break if he is a champion but he may have to wit for Leicester in the Cup to show he has recaptured his form. Joe may also get game time for a england in the friendlies.

I'm not so sure not playing is the way to improve him, I can see the argument that it's for the good of the club although (I don't agree with it given our back-up) but the idea Joe needs a rest is not the reason why's he's been dropped.

yep media got him dropped. doesn't help that most of our fans are also clueless and basically repeat whatever they read in the local rag as their own opinion.

so media and idiot fans.

And Pellegrini.

The media were largely responsible for Joes ultimate relegation to the sub's bench. The ill-founded condemnation of his performances by sections of the media led to a self-fulfilling prophecy: If you keep reporting a players loss of form and lack of confidence guess what? He'll suffer a loss of confidence and his form will go with it.
This was the case with Joe. I felt he was unfairly criticised by ignorant pundits and commentators who expect every shot to be saved, and an assassination by news media, particularly The Sun. This has resulted in Joe making several poor decisions about coming off his line, culminating in the last minute defeat to Chelsea. He needs time on the training pitch and time out of the spotlight.

The Owl hoots a a warning

“I would be a lot more concerned if Joe Hart never got his place back and if in the spring of next year when I have to select 23 players he was a constant reserve. I will cross that bridge when I come back.”

but at least he can count Joe's sins on at most two bitten talons

“It is November. He made a mistake or possibly two mistakes,” Hodgson told a media conference on Thursday.
“As a result of those mistakes, the manager has made his decision.

Makes Manuel look a bit harsh eh?

The media and fans got him dropped, yet neither of those two groups of people actually pick the team, how odd.

Maybe the manager realised Joe was costing us points on a regular basis and decided for the good of the team, that a rest would do both him and the team some good?

I'm gonna give it one last go as the other 3 times i've asked not one of Joes critics on here has bothered to even try.

Post the videos for Hart's catalogue of errors that have cost us a match. I'll give you the Chelski one to start you off even though Nastasic has admitted making a mistake for that one as well.

It's been repeated so many times, on here and in the media, that the 'string of errors' line has passed into fact when it is far from the truth.

I'm off to the boozer now but will expect a string of videos here when i get back...

This is great news, from LC's ThatKunAguero blog-

"It would appear Joe Hart has taken the first steps in his bid to regain his first-team place.

Joe was supposed to take part in a charity golf day on Wednesday but decided to pull out.

Harty, instead, could be found staying behind and doing extra training at Carrington with the coaches.

Pellegrini and co were suitably impressed.

…as no doubt, Blues will be to hear this positive news of a step in the right direction."

This could be the making of him lads, I have full faith in Hart as a professional.

Nah, we are now in the fortunate position, of being able to 'rest' players. This is a much about a mental rest, as physical. About giving a very young player, in goalkeeping terms, the opportunity to move forward by learning from the inevitable mistakes he has to make, to learn.

At this point in the season, I think everybody the club, manager, the team, Joe and Pants, could benefit from this mature long term attitude to player/s development. It's more of the holistic approach. :-D

fair play to Woy for sticking by him all this time. Joe will get right back to form by the time the world cup comes around

Good to hear he will get a game. It's hard to show he has his confidence back if he is sitting on the bench.Fingers crossed as there will be huge pressure on him

Mistakes do not equal costing a match, if someone makes a mistake then that is a problem regardless of it costing us because eventually if there are a string of mistakes, a few of them will start costing you.

and I'd be delighted if he ironed out his weaknesses and became our record appearance maker by being our keeper for at least the next decade.

His own poor form and mistakes coupled with the decision of the man paid to pick the team got him dropped fella, nothing more, nothing less.

Spot on Joe Mercer's Way.

Also for the benefit of Stoner Blue. I said on here that Nasti contributed to the mix up with Joe well before his announcement in the press to help Joe out. I was behind the goal at Chelsea had a good view of the incident.
