Joe Mercer OBE

I went to a football exhibition in Manchester in the early 70's which had City and rag players there..I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Joe and even though I was only a young lad he chatted to me and gave me his autograph.

You will always be remembered by City fans everywhere.

I remember Joe used to come on TV sometimes as a pundit. Unlike most of today's gasbags, he actually knew what he was talking about, and it showed. It's a pity, indeed a shame, City treated him so shabbily. Unforgivable, really, even allowing for the 'different times.' The directors must have been complete cnuts.

I think you're probably correct! I was at school with his youngest lad, Nigel, not quite as successful as Paul but still made a career for himself in the lower leagues.
