John Cleese drops out of Cambridge Union talk

born in 1970, so around 1984-86 i was in secondary school learning history...you can quickly get bored of kings chopping their wives heads off and peasants chopping other kings heads off, so I asked the history teacher when we will be learning about the world wars..."I'm not allowed to teach you about them" was his reply.

Not good this glossing history malarky

Thats very odd

I too was born in 1970 and went to the local comprehensive school.
Between 1984 and 1986 I did a GCE in modern european history 1870 to 1950 (passed with a grade A if anyones interested)
It was pretty much all about the first and second world wars although we did cover the late 19th century conflicts as well.
We even learned the Horst Wessel Song (The Nazi Party anthem) and studied why it was used and why it was successful in attracting new members.
The lessons where we learned about the Holocaust/Porajmos were the most interesting and terrifying of my school days, not because I am of Roma descent and would have been a victim, but because any human being learning about such inhumanity would find it terrifying.

It’s mainly for the guy who’s username is a fish.
@troutcunt? Actually I have no idea who you mean and as Thai prawn curry is coming u to the pass it can wait.

I would point out that I am vicariously offended on behalf of @Churchlawtonblue just to be on the safe side.

Meant in a lighthearted way, please no-one take any offence.

@2 mins 34.

There was a guy who’s username was a fish and I was trying to get him “unbanned”.

You can't go banning speakers because you don't like what they are saying be it sport, politics, religion, or just a ****.

Sometimes we have to hear some uncomfortable truths which knock our belief systems but we're all better for it.

The art of debate is being killed. It's a skill that should be taught in public and private schools to be able to discuss controversial issues without getting personal.
Well said. Being offended is often used as a substitute for a well constructed opposing view. Most people who are offended are cunts in my experience.
