John Guidetti: 20 goals and 6 assists in 23 for Feyenoord

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

For he has done at such a young age is really impressive. If he was English we would hear prices of 35million pounds being quoted.

I really do rate the guy. He has such an assured head, never seems to be under pressure and is determined to do well. His build up play looks great and he takes his chances. In fairness, from the goals I have seen him get, he hasn't really displayed any extraordinary talent or potential. He just keeps popping up in scoring situations. But hey, you can't pick the chances you are given and he can't very well turn away from a tap in.

Raped our defence yesterday, although we played 1 regular starter in the back 4 on their normal position. Great potential this kid. Gives Feyenoord the face they need upfront. Should leave him at Feyenoord coming season. Guarentee in the starting line-up. If not, sent him on loan to a bigger competition (France, Italy). Sitting on the City bench wont get him anything. Players between 19-22 need playing time. He'll definately get a major setback like every young player which he'll have to overcome mentally.

Great to hear about the kid progressing his game. I guess that is the problem with our club now and depth.

I would enjoy it more if he were loaned out to QPR or the like, someone in a non threatening position in a place where he should get more game time.

Great interview here. He dreams of playing for Citys first team!!

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

I watched the Feyernoord Ajax match. Was really impressed with the maturity JG showed. For someone who's 19 to lead the line in such a huge derby game with such assuredness was something you don't often see.

In terms of his development - we should leave him in Holland for another season. He simply won't get enough game time at City and I'd rather he was learning and playing in a league which places more importance on technique and getting the ball down and playing football than sending him to the championship or even a struggling prem league club.

Sorry if already covered, but what are the terms of his loan to Feyenoord, can we recall him quickly?

agreed, keep him at Feyenoord for another season where he says he enjoys his football.

or, with arsenal interested... loan him to there.. that would be good experience.

We should recall him back around the age of 21. 19 is too young to be playing for PL, CL etc week in week out.

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

Guidetti has seen his 6 months loan extended till the summer. Obviously City see he is developing very well in Holland at Feyenoord. And I can summon that. He gelled very well into the Dutch culture and Feyenoords'' style of playing (4-3-3), still scoring the odd goal mainly from the penaltyspot.
He does train a lot individually with Roy MacKaay and learns a lot from him. At 19 the guy (Guidetti) shows bags of energy and professionalism. He sure has the swagger of a winner, something that is a bit uncommon in the Dutch League, esp. at Feyenoord who is known as a working-class club.
His 3 goals yesterday in what is for Feyenoord the 'game of the year' vs Ajax, were well taken (yes, even the penalty was struck beautifully). More impressive was that he played for 88 minutes after hardly recovering from illness for more than a week. Despite hardly able to walk, he managed to finish to 4-2, and even found breath to lead the celebrations after the game.
At this moment Guidetti is only 2 steps away from City-material. If he can continue his development and can live with the succes he has now in Holland, he might be ready to take the step. Right now I think it's best he stays at Feyenoord, and it'll do him more good than coming to City.
He sure has done himserlf favours in front of Vieira and Marwood.

I don't think we'd ever loan him to Arsenal although I can understand Wenger's interest in him. The really impressive thing about his game was his footballing brain. Time after time he made clever runs in behind Ajax's defenders, or shifted out wide to create space for others. That kind movement is absolutely essential for any player who lacks pace the way he does. He looks like he's gotten stronger in the last few months and more comfortable holding the ball up and playing others in.

A good example of the kind of player he could develop into would be someone like Llorente at Bilbao. Llorente's obviously much taller and therefore more of an out and out target man/ariel threat, but I can see John ending up playing in a very similar fashion.

The only way I'd not send him back to Holland is if a decent team in La Liga came in for him because if he goes there and scores goals then his value will really sky rocket...
