John Guidetti: 20 goals and 6 assists in 23 for Feyenoord

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

5 of his 14 goals are penalties I believe, a bunch of them were in his early days there though IIRC, including two on his debut if I'm remembering correctly.

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

"Marwood and Vieira watched Guidetti's impressive display for Feyenoord earlier and will allow him to stay there on loan. [De Telegraaf]"
""Guidetti could be in first team plans next season but City seem happy to let him continue his development on loan at Feyenoord this season."

Isn't this the point of a loan, he gets good experience and comes back to us ready to step up and compete for a first team place. Maybe this is why we haven't splashed out on another striker yet.

If he was ready to play in a top league for a top club he wouldn't be on loan he'd be in our squad. Hopefully next season this will now be the case.

Beckham went on loan to Preston (hardly La Liga) and he did alright out of it.

Well said.

If I remember correctly, I think we paid £1m for Guidetti to FC Twente as well to keep him at City, so Mancini must see something in him. In fact, here's a report from June 2011:

According to reports Manchester City have had to pay a fee to re-sign John Guidetti. The Daily Mail claims Guidetti City have paid up to £1 million to take him back to the Etihad Stadium from Dutch club FC Twente. Twente had signed him on a free transfer when negotiations with City over a new contract broke down.

It seems City hesitated over a £10,000 fee for Guidetti’s father and Twente stepped in.

The striker scored 13 goals in 17 games for City’s reserves last season.

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

If United can loan Macheda to QPR, why can't we loan our youngsters ( Guidetti,Razak,Suarez & Roman ) to EPL clubs ?

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

QPR were interested in Guidetti but we sent him to Feyenoord instead.

None of the others have been ready for a PL loan really but Razak might be now, he's certainly a better footballer than the donkey Macheda. The thing with United is the hype machine building their players up so everyone falls for it, it allows them to get good transfer fees when they sell them too.

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

Our young forwards might learn more in the Eredivisie than Premier League. They seem to teach their youth well.

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

Van Persie came through the Feyenoord youth team and eventually made the first team scoring 15 in 59 league appearences. Our John has 14 in 13 league appearences already.
Van Persie eventually after some grooming from Wenger became world class!

I hope Mancini sticks with Guidetti, he looks promising and along with all the other great up and coming talents at City at the moment we may have a Barcelona-esque youth to first team side in about 5 to 10 years and it could be a world beater... better than spending 25-50m every season!

I cant wait for the first day of a season when we put the majority of the players that have come through our academy out and they go and win the league. Old school way of winning the league! One of my dreams for City to hopefully come true!

Re: John Guidetti: 14 in 13 for Feyenoord

Guidetti will learn a lot more about his ability in a good quality Dutch set up then some mid range Championship side.
