Mark Hughes is ready to launch a raid on his old club Manchester City for John Guidetti.

Stoke boss Hughes wants to beef-up his attack and is planning a £5.5million swoop for the Swedish ­international striker.

The 21-year-old was ­assured last ­summer that he had a future at the Etihad ­after coming back from a goal-­laded season-long loan with Feyenoord.

He plundered 20 goals in 23 outings for the Dutch ­giants and was handed a new three-year deal on his return to Manchester.

But the Stockholm-born hit-man has become ­disillusioned after failing to make the break-through into City’s first-team under former manager Roberto Mancini

Could've sworn it was 'laden'. And has 'break-through' always required hyphenation? Poorly written.

Can't see the Dutch loan. I reckon if he's loaned it will be to Swansea as an option for them but also league experience.

Alternatively maybe Spain? Didn't we do a deal with Espanyol to have them as a feeder club?

Think Swansea are happy with Bony and Michu up front, still reckon they'll mostly play Michu up on his own.

If Anelka retires WBA are short and instead of panic buying we could offer them Guidetti on loan. Promising striker like Lukaku was/is

JG seems a million miles away from the first team. I can't remember the last meaningful game he played (either first team or EDS). He is still not ready to play. If a decent offer comes in surely it will be difficult to turn it down. Send him out on loan or sell him but his development has been on hold since he returned from Holland.

Maybe because he had an extremely serious injury which ruled him out for the whole season... he's closer to the first team than any of our youth.
