He was a truly brilliant commentator. From listening to him on local radio to his commentary of the darts in tv.

Always great at capturing the key moment of action.

One of the great commentary voices - nice guy and a Blue - great respect for all of that and after an 18month battle with cancer he can RIP and lie at peace with Sid Waddell to commentate on darts in the sky

It was obvious that this moment wasn't far off based on his son's recent social media post, but it's still sad to read the news. RIP, John. With his distinctive voice, he described his various sporting passions with consummate skill, while he came across as a genuinely nice man as well as a proper, old-school Blue.

Whether it was a City game or a league 2 game he always seems as if he was thoroughly into it and the same went for his darts commentary. They don't make them like him anymore sadly. RIP blue
