John Stones - 2016/17 performances

It's easy to get overly excited after a promising debut, but I'm going to do just that. Stones was excellent yesterday. Calm, confident, looked like he'd been there for years. Most importantly that right hand side of the defensive pairing looks solid without Vinny being there which is hasn't done for some time now. Just like Sterling, in years to come the transfer fee will look a bargain. This kid's going to be our captain one day ...

Going to be interesting to see whether Otamdeni can nail down the other side of the pairing, whether Kolarov really is a serious solution for the rest of the season, or whether we go and buy someone.

It's been a long wait for Stones to sign but the inevitable happened just in time. Nothing is certain but I do anticipate Stones captaining City and England. The lad has definitely got something and if he is mentally strong enough, he will achieve great things.

Its been 3 days. Took demi half a season to settle in.

All I can say is he is a great passer and confident. Both traits will see him do well. Anything else is much, much to early

He was very good yesterday and its obvious why pep wanted him. Once he's got Kompany or Otamendi alongside him it should bring even better performances out of him. Kolarov do ok but at times it was clear he was a LB playing CB.

Fantastic defender, big, strong, positionally sound, quick and excellent on the ball with the confidence to beat a man or play a 40 yard ball. Has all the attributes to be the ultimate ball playing CB in future. Under Pep he'll thrive.

He looked courageous, didn't shy away from the ball. He's been here like what, 3 days? Yet he's out there dribbling and holding the ball and he's much younger than his counterparts. Just really mature performance. Captain of City and England 100% in the future. I'm still buzzing and can't believe we got him. You can tell he was playing with shackles on his ankle under Martinez and under Pep he's allowed and even encouraged to express himself and be the type of player that he is. We're thankful for John Stones but John Stones is also thankful for Pep/City. Match made in heaven.

Figured it's time to start this thread. Thought he was splendid with distribution, positioning and controlling play back there.

Some claim he was at fault for their goal. Buaaaaasa! @Bluearmy was that you?

I'm sorry, but was clearly at fault for the goal. Should never have left his position leaving Defoe in acres of space to score. Good performance apart from that though!!
