"The mistakes that have been highlighted recently seem to have knocked him back a little bit," Allardyce said. "You have to make fewer mistakes at international level than at Premier League level and that is the difference between success and failure.

"If you are successful, everyone gives the ball away or makes a mistake, but if the mistake costs a goal, then it’s a problem. There is an element as he gets more experienced, learning when it is too dangerous to hold on to the ball, to when it’s right to hold on to the ball and come up and play. It is not just come out and play every time. I am sure Pep will be the same as me, you can take a risk but it has to be minimal because if you lose the ball and the opposition score, it can be a problem.

"England lost their opportunity to go farther in the European Championship because of our mistakes, not the opposition’s brilliant football."

Why is this fat **** talking about Stones making mistakes, when he hasn't made any ?

I think you are just looking for insult there, Fat Sam has been very positive about Stones since he took over, and it sounds like he's going to start him.

He's said he's not making the mistakes he was being criticised for last season (true and fair comment) and he's said previously that he doesn't think Stones is "one for the future", he thinks he's a player for right now.

Class.

He looks every inch the world class talent we gambled on - at only 22!! this lad is gonna be a legend.

His partnership with Ota is also hugely impressive.

glad that his transfer to Chelsea failed last season.
his style suit him more at City.
can't wait to see Kompany get fit and play beside him.
it's gonna be awesome.

"John Stones had a little bit of a problem and did not win the duels. He might have been tired which is why we made the substitution."

Haha I got grief on the matchday thread for suggesting he was taken off because he kept missing tackles etc.

The Pep-Stones relationship is funny to watch. Every time Stones left his position I'd glance at Pep and he's fuming! That sub today reminded me of what happened with Henry when he got subbed for scoring a goal whilst out of his position haha!

Looked solid as a rock until he came off with what looked like grit or something in his eye.

Be perfect for him to partner Kompany, but he is no doubt learning from Vince all the time.

Will hopefully become as commanding and influential as Kompany is now.

As the beatles(almost) sang

"All you need is Stones, Stones
Stones is all you need"

Pep Guardiola: "John Stones is not injured, I don’t think so. I didn’t speak to the doctor. I saw him tired and with problems, no injury."

Maybe Guardiola needs to lay off a little bit, looked worried and panicky at times today.
