really poor from him today....cost us a goal directly....the pass was never on and he didnt look. he had already got away with one (to Kolorov - who was equally guilty of being sloppy)

If Pep is the man I think he is he will bench stones for the next game and put Ottomendi back on providing Kompany is fit

if pep is that man he will get behind him fully and play him in the next game. mistakes happen and he will only get better

Didn't Barca and Pep once spend about £30 million on Chygrynskiy? I'm not saying Stones is rubbish, but your argument is a nonsense.

how is it nonsense, he was calling him a fraud and saying he is awful. yet all these top teams want him. great for barca btw thats one example where it didn't work out in the end. we've only just signed stones

Just the same player as he was at Everton. I'm glad we signed him because I think in the long run it should pay off, but for now, he's not good enough to play centre back regularly for a team who are aspiring to win everything. I'm sure he will pick up again but I worry about him when we play solid opposition.

Pep won't be happy with his performance today...not just the goal but he was very sloppy on a umber of occasions and didnt defend as well as we have seen him over the last month or so.

I thought he played well besides his fuck up. Pep is big picture he's not going to drop a player for making a mistake in a high risk, high reward system. If he was like that then half the team would have been dropped after the Barca game.

yep barca, city, united and pep were all wrong he's actually shit. apart fro mthe mistake he played well and would have scored if not for kun

Haha! Yeah because Barca, Pep or us have never made a transfer mistake. Whats the amazing Ukraine centre half Dmytro Chgrynskiy up to these days?

"Played well apart from the goal he gave away" seems to be a common theme

Stones had other parts in the game when he was calmness personified and played us out of trouble. If we analyse the first half, however, we'll see that all three defenders were guilty, particularly Kompany, of not moving quickly enough into position when the other was being pressed. It also means we're not utilising Bravo as the 11th man.

My greater concern are those moments when Stones races into midfield to intercept and leaves acres behind him, even when he has a 30/70 chance of nicking the ball. It was him who charged into the Everton half last week, leaving Clichy alone against Lukaku and again, today, he did it in the first half and we had to thank Kolarov for coming all the way round to bail him out.

i think he will be looking at the big picture...dropping him won't just be because of his mistake and very average defending today.....it will be part of rotation and a chance to take him out of the lime light for a game...this needs to happen

you mean the ukranian centre half who after a season didn't play for barca ?? i didn't know stones played for us a whole season. whats your point ? pep has made bad signings therefore stones is a bad one ?

thats the risk you take though with this style of passing. he's a young player and i dont see any good in dropping him for making a mistake. letting him learn from those mistakes will be hugely important for stones, if we drop players every time they make mistakes we wouldn't have a team left.

but this was such a basic error.I cant imagine Pep accepting that

At least 2 howlers per game. We already had our share of players a dab hand at this. Even more worrying is how easily outmuscled he is and how poor in the air for a man of his size. Much work to do.

thats a complete overaction. 2 howlers per game ? he made one today, didn't play great the other night. but the majority of games he has played really well.

bravo, fernandino both made basic errors which led to goals. both didn't get dropped and both are vastly more experienced.

he aint going to drop his keeper though is he....he accepts that the keeper will do this....Today that was school boy level from stones
