John Stones - 2017/18 performances

I liked what I saw last season already and thought he got way to much stick. But he really has stepped it up to another level this season and is quickly becoming one of my favourite players. Hopefully he'll replace Vinnie as our captain in two seasons.

If there was a TOTY atm (early as it is) Stones would be in it. Still room to improve but he has been very solid so far.

Think he needs to continue working on his 1v1 defending and his long (lofted) passing. His ground passing, long and short, is spot on but he has a habit of overhitting his crossfield/high passes

The guy was class today, delt with everything he had too, looked really comfortable passing the ball around at the back. No idea why Ottomendi went lunging in for that yellow card silly boy, lets hope Stones gets his learning from elsewhere!

That's harsh on Nico bud. It's Otamendi btw.

The Otamendi-Stones partnership is no longer dreaded. I do think it's more down to Stones taking charge which is huge credit to him

John's massive improvement started around Liverpool at home last season and continued until he got injured.

Picked up right where he left off this season and has been delivering top performances consistently and showing his leadership abilities. Proving so many people wrong.

What a bargain.
